Greetings Alfandrians,
I decided to start a poll in which to find out a few things. I also
decided to do this since it is my one-year anniversary of being here on
AFD. You have all been so good to me despite my being a dracoliche.
Here's the poll(Please respond to the newsgroup and to my personal
e-mail of raphera...@hotmail.com or chri...@isu.edu):
1. Are you an artist?
2. If you are an artist, what type of art do you do?
3. Have you ever been published? Where?
4. Are you currently working on any projects?
Thank you all. I will post the results in approximately 3 weeks.
That should, hopefully, give everyone enough time to enter in their
information.
The answers that I would give are as follows:
1. Artist
2. Writing, drawing, cinematography, painting, sculpture, clothes
design, needlework, computer programming, arms/armor(I have been around
for a while)
3. Unpublished, as of yet.
4. web site(personal) and novel(Dragons)
Sincerely,
Raphe Ravenhawke the Dracoliche

Well, I am currently writing for a fantasy anthology that the editor assures me
will eventually be published...does that count?

> 4. Are you currently working on any projects?

Oh, God, yes! Too many! :)
As I said, a story for the anthology, also a poem I sent off which is being
considered, and I am still trying to fit a poem of rae's to music...as well as
doing my website and some of my own personal story writings.

The short answer: apparantly so.

> 2. If you are an artist, what type of art do you do?

I dabble in lots of things, and have done lots more things in the past,
and would like to do lots more in the future, but here's the things I've
been doing the most of recently: drawing, painting, writing, pomeing,
beadwork (exclusively necklaces), linoleum block carving.

Yeeesss... but it was years ago, and you'd have a heck of a time finding
it even if I told you. >:=8) Which I'm not going to, just so I can be
infuriating.

"Currently working on" as in right now? No. "Currently working on" as in
"projects in various stages of not-yet-complete?" Oooooh yeah. That goes
all the way from an oil pastel picture I've finished and now need to
figure out how to prevent from smearing, to the handful (three or four, I
think) of stories I've started but haven't finished (or already wrote,
lost, and have to rewrite), to the amazing brilliant ideas I've had that
don't currently exist anywhere outside of my own head. >:=8)

Hrm... I suppose you could consider me one. *Shrug*

>> 2. If you are an artist, what type of art do you do?

I'm attempting to teach myself how to draw things that look vaguely
correct. I write a bit sometimes. I play around quite a bit with
computer graphics, mainly with Photoshop and Bryce 3D. I write web
pages (for myself and for my school). I program some.

>> 3. Have you ever been published? Where?

Nope.

>> 4. Are you currently working on any projects?

Oh, of course. Like I said, I'm teaching myself to draw. My own web
page needs a makeover sometime soon, and I've redone it almost
completely and then decided I didn't like it 2 or 3 times already, and
I'm also playing in photoshop for that. The school web page needs a
lot of work, so I can get it into shape for when someone else takes it
over next year (what was left to me was just downright -ugly- ;-) Not
the page so much as the code and organization.) Um... that's not
nearly it, I don't think. But close enough. ;-)

writing (poetry, short stories, novels - when i finally have some time

yup. couple of kiddy poetry collections when i was about 9/10, and a
couple of other poetry anthologies two years ago. not much. :(

uhm.. yeah. i'm always writing poetry (or TRYING to write it *grin*) - i
write stuff whenever i have an idea. i have an idea for a novel that i'm
VERRRRY slowly working on. then there's my a-level school art project
(it's for a competition as well) which should be *very* interesting.

forms of poetry, and song lyrics. I have three scores that I'm working

instrumental), make-up, and magic

A few poems, 3 I think, in as many anthologies.

> 4. Are you currently working on any projects?

Yikes! 5 novels (Dragons, True Forms, 2 Romance, 1 young adult suspense)
Each requires a varied degree of research and prep work, so I switch between
them as the rest of my schedule fluctuates, a musical production that opens
in just over a week, 8 websites at various stages of complete/administration,
2 Short stories (1 children's, 1 horror), 1 Vampire RPG to run, 4 fanfic
stories (1 sailor moon, 2 Buffy, 1 SM/Fushugi Yugi/Robotech crossover) and
when I remember the others that come outside classes and work, I'll let you

artist, and there is no difference between fine art and kitsch - all

Furry art and some random supposedly übercool digital art. Sometimes
music. Also tons of other kinds of products of creativity, such as
programs and literary stuff, such as "strike reports" from a
paramilitary group that keeps one Usenet group clean of d00dz and

Never in publications (well, I once wrote an article to a local
newspaper but that doesn't count, right?), but most of the stuff I
thought were somewhat worth publishing are in the Net.

Tons of little things, not really projects. Welllll... I think I have
some unfinished pictures I need to finish someday.

Well let's see here. Poetry I'm the most prolific at. Music is
probably my favorite to create. I've done many colored pencil
drawings but haven't for a while, plus the occasional computer graphic
as well. Does web page design count?

> 3. Have you ever been published? Where?

I've only had two poems published so far. The first was in the
forerunner of what is now Wingspan, called ode to an Eagle. The other
one is in a local zine called Axiom, called Urban Rot.

> 4. Are you currently working on any projects?

Well, there's always another poem to write at least! I've been
wanting to do a full body drawing of my draconic self but have lacked
time and/or patience right now.

> 2. If you are an artist, what type of art do you do?

Pens and pencils, style wandering around the area partway between
cartoonish and realistic. I have a difficulty controlling paint, so I
don't paint. My subject matter is usually fantasy of some kind, and
usually odd enough to defy more specific classification.
Transformation is one of my favourite subjects.

Professionally, I am a graphic designer, which means things like logo
design, typography, page layout, et cetera.

I also write short stories occasionally, and I often collaborate with
a friend of mine on humour scripts, which vary from sketches to entire
screenplays.

> 3. Have you ever been published? Where?

My design and commercial illustration work gets printed, when the
client doesn't bail out to save money. My weekly comic strip Absurd
Notions ran in my college's student newspaper, and I did their
editorial cartoons also.

My web site is http://www.cerulean.st/

> 4. Are you currently working on any projects?

Only about a zillion, all stalled right now while I deal with mundane
matters. I'm trying to get Absurd Notions started again as a daily web
comic. I intend to do more new work to sell at Anthrocon, probably a
series of furry caricatures of popular TV shows and films. There are
about a dozen unfinished drawings from random inspirations on my
drawing table, and and a very unfinished attempt at making a dragon
costume littering my living room. I'm going to be illustrating the
Alfandran Tarot Deck. Jia has asked me to create her next tattoo,
possibly the most compelling compliment an artist can get. And
concepts keep popping into my head for games...

I hate income tax season.

>> 1. Are you an artist?

I guess so, yeah.

>> 2. If you are an artist, what type of art do you do?

Well, i love to write,(stories and music) and take pictures, in my free time
and I can create computer graphics(lightwave, photoshop). I have dabbled im
MIDI but I'm over that phase now. I play the flute, alto tenor and baritone
saxophone, the kazoo, and trying to learn to play guitar, and I'm not too hot
on the keyboard. Oh yeah, i do webpages and small programming too.

>> 3. Have you ever been published? Where?

Well, all my pages got erased when I was editing them and lightning struck
computer(and ran through the modem to the internet and caused major damage :P),
but to answer your question, not really.

>> 4. Are you currently working on any projects?

Yes, who is'nt? I have 4 web pages drawn out to publish for the school, I have
a rough sketch of myself that I want to finish, about 4-5 stories to finish,
and on top of all that, the undying project, school and homework

Oh, BTW, In my english class I've been assigned to do a reasearch paper on
Dragons!(stroke of luck eh? All my other projects have been something like
'The symbolism of (insert boring word here) in (insert any book, besides a good
one))So, If anybeast has some advice for me or my report, give me an email or
something.

All kinds of stuff.. drawing, doodling, computer graphics, computer
programming, stained glass (will again once I have cash for my own tools),
music composition, performance (don't do so much of that anymore -
instruments: tuba, voice(bass)), occasional painting, occasional
writing, various other stuff..

> 3. Have you ever been published? Where?

Not yet.

> 4. Are you currently working on any projects?

Lots.. My personal web page, my MUD, umm got a couple ideas for novels
that want to be written, an idea for a comic book that wants to be written,
working on a MIDI arrangement of my favorite contemporary classical piece,
working on a chain hauberk, that's all I can think of at the moment but
I'm sure there is plenty more...

Probably not. (Some would disagree. It depends on what their
view of "artist" is)

A sketch every now and then. Some 3D rendering. A short story
every now and then. Fiddling around mostly.

no.

Nothing painting/sketching artsy like, no. I am, however slowly,
working on another rendered dragon to put in my web lair.

Depends if you count a wordsmith as an artist. If not, no, I am sadly
almost totally untalented in any of the creative arts. *sigh*

Glad other folks are, anyway. I can appreciate it, even if I can't do
it!

Well, if Infia's going to include it, I am too. ;=8) I very
occasionally write stories, when I have time, and write news stories
for a living, though that's more a craft than an art.
