Hehe...There are few foods that could not be improved by being cooked over a
fire...unfortunately, if you do it yourself, you don't taste the Kingsford
charcoal. :)
Chocolate being one of them. You can't improve chocolate

True, it can't be improved...but s'mores are one of this mortal globe's great

Only the males. IIRC, every male Eastern dragon holds a pearl, the source of
his power.
From a website:
"It is customary to picture them with a pearl, which dangles from their necks
and is a symbol of the sun. Within this pearl lies the Dragon's power. The beast
is rendered helpless if its pearl is stolen from it." -J. L. Borges

Western, largely for aesthetic reasons. Plus, it would be nice to have
a set of wings.

I imagine they would make us all get licenses to use our own wings. No,
wait. They'd make us get learner's permits, wait 6 months, and then get
a license whenever it happened to be convenient for them.

I can see that happening. I can also see a bunch of dragons just about dying

What about those that would choose neither? Or a hybrid of both? Myself, I
choose neither, since I have some features resembling those of a western dragon
and some features that don't.

I wouldn't choose eastern simply because they look silly to me. No offense to

Well I am a fur covered Eastern Dragon...
I don't know why everyone is obsessing about wings, I never needed them

Here in Calif, the hot thing right now is Eastern dragons on shirts. A company
called Dragonfly is cranking them out like nobody's business, I've got three of
them. I wear them to all of my recitals, unless it's a real formal thing and I
need a tux. It's too bad I can't wear it to work, but I -can- wear my dragon
necklace if I want to. :)

Also lots of fluffy fur, whiskers (feelers?), and the ability to control the
rain. What could be better?

I can change shape, so I can have all those if I want. And I can control rain. As
well as other elements and many, many other things through magic.
I guess Western, to be honest. But, you know, Eastern has their own
traits. I'm more used to Western though... although I could try
Eastern a bit more.
I like to mix dragons from all around the world and see what I can
come up with, though. I guess I'm just like that.
(...Starblade Darksquall...)
We have a local pack of wild lemons?!!!
And I'd be a Western Dragon, again, for the wings :) Of course, being an
Eastern Dragon would be a slightly more, ahhh, /safe/ existence. Less of
the dragon-hunting, I believe.
-
Anna, Erinn and Kilhani
hrm... i think western. if i had four legs it would be much easier to
negotiate stairs without tripping over myself. mind you, if i was a
dragon i wouldn't be wearing 6" heels so that'd make it a LOT easier for
a start.

As I said, no offense to eastern-style dragons. That is merely my opinion.
At least it's changed from when I first got here: in my native world there
are no eastern-style dragons, so for the longest time I considered them
serpents and not dragons at all.

Nobility is a great thing :) However, I refuse to see anyone made king who can't
actually defend the title and I don't mean via the newsgroup.
It's my understanding, although this is inferred rather than something I read
all spelled out, that royalty used to be chosen by those who could actually
defend the title versus all commers. It strengthened the family.

I could defend the title, I just prefer not to have to.

That would be a benefit, yes.

Depends on how stereotypical a Western or Eastern dragon we're talking
about. Many legends of Western dragons either depict them as unthinking
beasts, or as incarnations of evil...if I didn't have to conform to one
of those stereotypes, I'd choose Western. Like many other respondents, I
like the idea of flying with my own wings better than doing so by magic.

It is pretty standard in dragon circles to dismiss the unthinking killing
machine image, but I notice that no one finds the idea of being an invisible,
benevolent force (like the Eastern dragons) unattractive.

Unattractive? Or attractive?

Unattractive. I think deep down, most would like to be a God.

It would certainly make a lot of things easier, but I would imagine that
it would be quite irritating to have a few wackos crop up periodically
who want to blow things up in Your Name. (See
http://www.theonion.com/onion3734/god_clarifies_dont_kill.html) Not to
mention the blasphemy and such...sounds like a rather high-stress job to
me. (Great perks, though--omnipotence can't be beat!) ]:-8)~

How long will it take for you to gain wisdom?
I don't know how old I am, spiritually speaking. Breimh might be able to
give a guesstimate as he's my older brother. The amount of time it takes is
different for everyone, and the best teacher is experience.
Keeping an open mind and learning not just from your own mistakes, but those
of others, is a good step in the right direction.
Part of the reson the Eastern dragons are so often shown with the symbolic
Pearl of Wisdom, is because the Dragons over there are cherished for that
traight, and the emporers strive to achieve wisdom so they might better lead
their people.

Really? I think I might. Fuzziness, after all, is a close relative of
cuteness, and I stated in a thread a while back that I'm immune to
cuteness...

I'm not talking about anything psychological like cuteness. This is purely

Ah. In that case, fuzziness is typically pretty flammable...

I suppose this will seem convenient, but I've always been this
way...non-flammable. Too much water in it.
S'mores (a play on "some more") Is a piece of chocolate (preferably
melty) and a marshmellow (preferably toasted over a campfire) between
two halves of a grahm (did I spell that right?) cracker.

I once did that with a piece of peanut butter pie. The buttons on my
microwave all look the same. It was made in 1983.

Uh...okay, you got me. Sort of. I breathe water, so I can put myself out.
