I've compressed these pictures using RAR. If you don't know what RAR is,
you can go to RAR's download page at:
ftp://ftp.csc.se/pub/pallin/csc/cscftp4.html

If you cannot uncompress it, or something else has gone wrong, e-mail me.

I got the original picture at the sci-fi channel's web site, The Dominion:
ORIGINAL.GIF This is the ORIGINAL, I got it at the sci-fi channel's web
site, The Dominion.
SEMI-ORIGINAL.BMP This is the product after about a day's worth of work.
DRAGONS.BMP This is the FINAL final product.

I got the dragons from some AVI files from the MCA web site on Dragon
Heart. (Too bad they took it down.) I used Adobe Photoshop LE version 2.0
at first (I know, it's old). I used Micrografx Photo Magic (the newest
version) to change SEMI-ORIGINAL.BMP to DRAGONS.BMP.

Changes made:

ORIGINAL.GIF to SEMI-ORIGINAL.BMP
I put three flying Dracos to the left and above the center of the picture.
I added a big mad Draco at the bottum left-hand corner. And another one was
put in the center-right portion of the image. Since the original was a
JPEG, I had to do a lot of touching-up. JPEG uses lossly compression. That
means when you compress an image using JPEG, it loses quality. The original
was compressed high so it had alot of little boxes and flaws in the image.
For an example, look at the fog to the right of mad-Draco. It has ALOT of
flaws. In this one, I blurred alot of them so it would look better.

SEMI-ORIGINAL.BMP to DRAGONS.BMP
The major thing I did was change the tint. I got rid of that annoying
yellow-ish tint. I added a moon behing the three flying Dracos. I got rid
of as many flaws as I could find. I blended mad-Draco to make him look like
he fit into the scene better. This looks ALOT better than
SEMI-ORIGINAL.BMP.

Changes I might make:
I am trying to get Bowen (the man in front of mad-Draco) out of the
picture, but I doubt if it will look right.
I might take the flying Draco at the center-right out of the picture. He
just doesn't look right there. I don't know what to do about it though.

I'm not sure myself, my brother. My newsreader merely told me it was too
large to download (a message in itself about 3 lines worth), and didn't download
it. If it was that massive, tho... imagine what it must have done to some of
our brethren's newsreaders!

The offense is posting a binary image to a non-binaries group. It is
verbotten. If a.f.d gets known to SysAdmins as a hidden binary group
sites will stop carrying it. Or won't add it in the first place.

If you have a picture of interest to a.f.d post it to the appropriate
binary group and then post here telling us what the picture is, what
group you posted it in, the subject of your post in that group, and
the filename of the image.

The individual in question posted a rather large binary file in uue form. My
partner hasn't had time to decode it yet, but will sometime this week. He/she
apparently didn't come in long enough to see that we don't do things like that
here.

Greetings.

What made it all the more of an offence was that the original article
was spammed to several newsgroups.

>If you have a picture of interest to a.f.d post it to the appropriate

Exactly.

"The offender emailed me an apology, and I have sent him the section of the AFD
FAQ which discusses the binaries situation. Seems like he was another newcomer
to the world of newsgroups. For those who did not know what he did, he posted a
binary file that was 700k+ in size. Not only did he do that, but he also sent
it to about 5 other groups. Not nice. He probably wont do it again."

Sabargen, glad he got some response from the other dracs. Spam isnt too bad,
but 700k+? Thats too much.
