On the artwork of Dragon Lance

An interesting point was brought up on alt.games.marathon; In a lot of DL
art, (Larry Elmore having been the artist in question here;) the heroes or
characters featured in the picture are quite often rather emotionless, even
in the face/maw/drooling, snarling, disgusting foul mouth of evil, etc.

I'm not sure what this could lead to, just relaying this here, as this is
really where it belongs.... sort of....

I suppose you're talking about the 'Dragonlance' picture (I think it
was the '85 calendar cover) where Laurana looks like she's been hit
over the head with something, or the 'Siege of Kalaman' where Flint
looks almost demoniacal. I can't think of others tho. Please explain.
