My friend sent this link to me from msnbc saying that Toys R' Us is
taking DBZ comics off the shelves because of the nudity, violence
(didn't matter at the time) and Goku asking if he can touch Bulma's
ass. Why they didn't notice before I don't know, but I just figured
I'd let every one that didn't know find out about it.
Here is the link if you want to see it for yourself.

Yet Toys R' Us has been selling Barbie dolls for eons. Boys can't be boys
but girls can be forced to reach for that Barbie-like body which everyone
knows is impossible to obtain. I bet that mother spent many a long night in
her younger years staring at a naked Barbie wishing she could look like
that.

Gokou never asked to touch bulmas ass. Good let toy's for little greedy snot
nosed 6 year olds pull the comics, Viz doesn't censor their manga, They arn't
catering to the 6 year olds like funimation is, And I doubt as long as trish
ledoux is the translater they ever will...

Actually, most girls I know laugh at Barbies, rather than try to
emulate them. But 20 or so years ago, that may not've been the case,
true enough.

Reading their descriptions of the questionable events, I'd be
concerned myself. I hope that parents are taking the time to actually
see the full situations with MSNBC's snippets, rather than taking the
lists of 'sexual acts' at face value. It's a shame that no note was
added about DBZ's "good 'n wholesome" points.

Pfff, that article takes the scene completely out of context. Alone, the
frame
might be unacceptable to sell to children, but the author neglected to
mention
that in the next frame, Goku says that he "really doesn't feel like touching
her dirty butt".

Bulma: I want to wish for a handsome boyfreind!
Goku: Handsome... Boyfreind... ?
Bulma: Why dont you give me the ball?
Goku: No way! No way! This is my gandpas memorial!
Bulma: But your never going to use it!
Goku: <<makes funny face at bulma>>
Bulma: I see! You are growing up quickly..
<<bulma circles around goku and lifts up the back of her skirt>>
Goku: O_o
Bulma: How is this? You can touch it a little...
Goku: I dont want to touch your dirty butt!!!
Bulma: Its not dirty!

They wrote that a male(Gokou) asked a female (Buluma) for a "Quick lil feel"
Actually, it was Buluma who was offering herself in exchange for his
dragonball. I thought this article was hilarious!! It was so funny seeing the
comics being described by some straight laced reporter who had no idea what
Dragonball is.

I just hope this finally shows people that just because something is
animated doesn't mean that it's for kids. I was thinking.... Maybe when
Cartoon Network shows Tenchi Muyo maybe Toys R' Us will have the manga
volumes for sale! ;-)

:-) That 2 for Toys R' Us. First Austin Powers now DBZ....

Who buys their comics at Toys 'R Us anyway? Besides the kids with crazy
parents I mean. My dad always took me to the comic book store.

It does seem funny how they're doing this. That scene is totally out of
the context of the reporter, who probably can't tell the differences in
kiddie and adult comics anyway.

At least he/she didn't try to show a scene when Goku was sleeping on
Bluma's "pillow" and had to suggest a bit of sexuality with minors or
child pornography to refer to the comic.

Still, they should've also pointed out that the comic was Dragonball,
not DBZ. I guess these reporters are a bunch of media-hungry pussies.

I just find it funny that Toy R' Us didn't know about it. They had to have
parents tell them about it. You'd think that they would pay attention more.

I used to get the big packs of comics from Toys 'R' Us a few years back, just
at the start of my comic collecting obsession. It was a good way to get myself
started, since I could get 20 comics for maybe $10.00.

If I knew that Toys 'R' Us was carrying manga, I'd apply for a job to get
an employee discount.

Wow.....why didn't anyone tell me that requirement? I was under the
impression that you needed to be named Matt, and be accepted by the other

What else do you expect from a news report about comics or video games in the
90's? They always either leave stuff out or blame the wrong people. Though
Toys R' Us pulling the comics isn't a problem around here because out of the 5
or so of them around here not a single one sells the comics. I guess they'll
have to start just so they can pull them.
