Is it just me or does it seem that the Saiyans on DBZ tend to go for
the strong-willed really BBBIIITTTCCCHHHYYY women? Or is it because
all the women in DBZ could be considered bitchy. If you agree, do you
think that it has something to do with their Saiyan nature and
heritage, or just because they like them. First Chi-Chi, then Bulma,
and Videl(with the exception of #18, though she is a bitch who could
kick major @$$$$!!!). Is this a trend, reality, or just a
coincidence. Whatcha think????

You left out the most likely scenario. That Chi-Chi, Buruma, and Videl did the
actual choosing and the Saiyan men were just innocent prey to the girls sick
alien lusts.

I think it comes from a bigger issue. To me, Dragonball is written from an
overwhelmingly male perspective. I think that results in the women being all
the stereotypes of everything men tend to dislike about women. They're
stereotypes of bitchy, bossy ladies, just like on the Lifetime channel, all
the men are pigs.

I don't think we can really drawn any strong conclusions based on a sample
of two people.

I think what you're saying is that Saiyajin women are similar to men and
the men respect strength in women and pick them?
But in nature males don't do the picking. Males stick their seen anywhere
they can to propogate their genes while females try to pick the best males
for their own genes to mix with, being much more selective. Makes sense in
most species as the Males job lasts a few minutes while the Females only get
to do the job once every 9 months, or whatever.

First of all, you were replying to a post by Ben, not me. Second, he was
referring to the women who are highlighted in the show. In other words, we
don't even see enough of Bulma's mom to make her a good example for such a
statement and an even worse counterexample. And yes, I find it annoying
when you try to disprove something somebody says with such weak evidence.

That's what I think too. =)
Goku didn't pick Chi-Chi. He was tricked into marriage by Ox King and
Chi-Chi.
And we can be damn sure Vegeta didn't approach Bulma.
And Gohan is just oblivious to relationships.

Yeah. Remember that Girl Saiyajin in the Bardock Story? The one that fought
in battle with them. She was kinda ronchy, probably bitchy too. =)

I would think that since the Saiyan Men(Goku and Gohan at least) were very
shy and did not actively pursue women, that it took a woman who was willing
to make the first move to get them. Hey, Bulma even got Yamcha to overcome
his shyness, so its not just Saiyan males either. It seems that when the
strongest fighters were weak in the relationship department, it took a
strong woman to fill the gap. Also, ChiChi and Videl are two of if not the
strongest women in the world.

I'm not sure about Goku, but I doubt that Vegeta is the sort of guy
who would go for a submissive little wifey.

I think we see plenty of her mom to see what kind of character she has.

I seem to remember a theory that designates the saiyan tail as a
sexual organ, and there may have some truth to it. Perhaps DBZ females
are attracted to the tails. Or, chicks dig dumb guys, which means I
should be a pimp.

Er, no. An erogenous zone, actually, i.e., a place that's easily
stimulated.
Considering that it can be used to subdue a Saiyajin (we se this with
Radditz, and I think with Goku in DB), there may be some evidence to this.

Vejita lost his tail before Bulma and he got together.

I didn't think either Vejita or Gohan are that dumb.

Well, no. That's completetly wrong. Gohan managed to procreate long after
his tail stopped growing in again.

If DBZ had been aimed at a slightly older market in Japan, I could
certainly see it being portrayed as that, what with the
"no-penises-on-screen-during-sex-but-it's-okay-to-show-it-if
-it's-actually-a-tail-or-a-tentacle" laws.

Actually, seeing Goku sticking it to Chi-Chi with his tail would not
be an entirely unpleasant evening's viewing. ;)
