Oh, PLEASE don't start the "DBZ IS RACIST MR POPO IS DA NIGGA" shit again
-_-;;. There are not too many african-american people in Japan, give Toriyama a
break. . .

Not to mention that the voice in question (i.e., the reason this thread was
started)
is a dub voice, and has nothing to do with Toriyama. :P

I must say that I burst out laughing when I heard him today just because the
voice sounded so weird. I can't say if it's meant to be racist or not because
I'm not privy to Funi. staff meetings. Maybe they were trying to poke fun at
Mike Tyson or something, like some TV talk show hosts used to do. I don't
know.

.... Do you even know what Mike Tyson sounds like?
Yeah, I know what he sounds like. The thing is:
Maybe they were trying to make him hard to understand because that's the kind
of jokes that they make about Tyson.
That would require the voice to sound anything remotely like Tyson.
It sounds more like those two jive dudes on Airplane!.
Yep, I was gonna state that you can understand the original Japanese voice
perfectly. Well, as far as speaking clarity goes. If you can't understand
Japanese, than your out of luck :).
Also, isn't Mr.Popo an alien just like Kami is? So how can that be
considered racist?
Perhaps you've been in the dark. Tyson gets made fun of for one of three
things:
1. He sounds like an 8 year-old girl
2. He eats people
3. He makes crazy threats
I don't think I've heard of that third one... But I've been out of the loop for
a while; I stopped watching Saturday Night Live a while ago because of
this one un-funny parody they did of Iron Chef.

SNL ceased being funny in any way, shape, or form after both Dana Carvey and
Mike Myers left the regular cast.
And even then, a lot of the skits were very hit-or-miss.
Now, the skits are not only mostly misses, but also mostly disgusting and
devoid of anything remotely humorous to anyone with an IQ higher than 7.
Yes, that Peepers crap is quite stupid.

The crazy threats that are spoken of probably refer to Mike Tyson's stating
that he wants to eat Lennox Lewis's children in a post-fight interview. Not
sure after what fight though.

It's really ringing bells for me. I've heard it somewhere before I'm
sure. It's like the guy that had his binoculars borrowed yesterday.
That had to be Professor Frink (from The Simpsons)

Heh, I could have sworn I heard Billy West, the voice of Stimpy, doing one
of the guest characters. But since it only had one line, I seriously doubt
it.
