So it would seem..
BUT remember, most the kids we've seen in DBZ are half-Saiyajin or less.
Vejita once says that all (full-blooded) Saiyajins have black hair. That's
part of the reason he didn't believe Trunks was a Saiyajin- his hair wasn't
black.
>I mean Trunks has the color of his grandfather's, Goten and Gohan have the
color of their mother.
Well, both Goku and Chichi have black hair, so...
>Bra has the color of her mother's. Pan has the color of Videl's.
Again, both Pan's folks have black hair.
Really, the only children we can say who definitely don't have their
father's hair coloring are Trunks and Bra (poor Veji-sama...). There are
at least three who could. So that's about half and half...

Goten, Gohan, and Pan all have the colour of their fathers hair also. It's
black. Black and Black usually make Black. Also both Trunks and Bra are
brother and sister so (please take into mind I know NOTHING about "human"

OK, lemme explain this scientifically.
First of all, Gohan's, Goten's, and Pan's hair colors are all obvious since
both of their parents have all black hair. Let's look at Bulma and Vegeta
instead. The green hair gene must either be a dominant gene (G), or each of
Bulma's parents had a hidden passive green gene, which were randomlay passed
to Bulma (gg).
In the second scenario, Trunks would have definitely received a (g) from his
mother and a (b) from his father. This would make his hair HAVE to be either
green or black, so it pretty much eliminates that possibility.
If the first is the case, however, then Trunks would have received either
(G) or another gene from his mother, and black (B) from his father. The only
way he could have had purple hair in this case is if the "other" gene was
purple (P), which Bulma would have received as a passive gene from her
father, and it was dominant over black (B). So, this leads us to conclude
that from his mother's genes (Gp) and his father's (bb), Trunks received
(Pb), resulting in his purple hair.
Now, Bra has green hair. This means she must have received the green hair
gene from her mother (G) and the black from her father (b). This again
supports the idea that Bulma's hair genes are (Gp). Green is dominant over
purple, and purple is dominant over black. It also means that blond must be
dominant over green, as evidenced in Bulma's mother (BLg).
Well, it's been over four years now since I took biology in high school. I
hope all of that made sense. Any thoughts?

You're correct here. As far as we can tell, all the parents seem to be
homozygous for black hair

Not so. More likely (In the DB universe at least.) Green and Purple are
both equally Dominant and black is recessive.
There is no way for one dominant allele to be "more" dominant than
another dominant allele. There are just two kinds: Dominant and
recessive. In cases where more than one dominant allele is present,
incomplete dominance or Codominance occurs.
An example of incomplete dominance would be a blond(Bl)haired mother
and a black(B) haired father having a brown(BBl) haired child.
An example of Codominace would be a mother with A blood type and a
father with B blood type having a child with AB blood type.
From what I can tell, in the DB universe, the gene for black hair is a
*dominant* allele. That is the only way for the result of Trunks and
Bra's hair color to occur. I know your probably thinking I'm crazy, but
I'll explain further below.
>It also means that blond must be
> dominant over green, as evidenced in Bulma's mother (BLg).

There is not enough evidence to determine Mrs. Briefs' genotype for
hair color, only her phenotype.

You did very well, considering hair color is much more complicated than
most other inherited traits as far as genetics go.
Here is how I think it might go:
Here are the facts as we know them:
Mr. Briefs: Blue hair
Mrs. Briefs: Blond hair
Bulma: Blue hair
Trunks: Purple hair
Bra: Green hair
Vegeta: Black hair
Now, it is a fact that incomplete domanince is a major factor in
determining hair color. I think both Trunks' and Bra's hair color is
the result of incomplete dominance.
Now, there is NO way Trunks and Bra could have those colors of hair
unless BOTH parents were Heterozygous in hair color. That's easy enough
for Bulma, but it would also mean that there was a recessive trait for
a different hair color in Sayiajin as well... and from what has been
mentioned in the manga and anime, almost all sayiajin have black hair.
*almost* is the key word here. In the anime, we have seen in
flashbacks, Saiyajin with brown hair. Therefore we can assume that
Vegeta's phenotype for hair color is black, but his Genotype is Bbr,
meaning he carries the trait for brown hair.
Now, on to Bulma...
I think its safe to assume that in the DB universe, Blue color hair is
a dominant trait. Let's also assume that blond hair is recessive.
Bulma's mother has blond hair, and her father has blue. Going by this,
Bulma carries the ressesive trait for blond hair. Her genotype would be
something like Bbl
Now, let the following stand for genotypic alleles:
BL=black hair dominant
B =blue hair dominant
br =brown hair recessive
bl = blond hair recessive
Now, in *real life* many hair colors don't have a specific gene (like
brown hair for example) rather they are the result of an incomplete
dominance between two different dominant alleles for hair color.
Going by this, and the availble information we have of characters in
question, we can assume that in the DB world, both purple and green
hair are the result of incomplete dominance.
Going by the assumed genotypes of Bulma (Bbl) and Vegeta (BLbr) and
incorporating incomplete dominance, here are the following statisical
possibilities of hair color for their children (If you know how to draw
a punet square, try this at home.):
BL br x B bl =
1:4 ratio of (BBL) black/blue incomplete dominance
1:4 ratio of (Bbr) heterozygous blue hair
1:4 ratio of (BLbl) heterozygous black hair
1:4 ratio of (blbr) blond/brown recessive incomplete dominance (Since
ALL alleles are recessive, incomplete dominance still applies.)
Now, I'm *really* going out on a limb here, but perhaps in the DB
world, (BBL) incomplete dominance results in purple hair, and likewise,
(blbr) incomplete dominance results in green hair.
Therefore, any children by Bulma and Vegeta would HAVE to have one of
the following hair colors(a 25%chance for each.): Blue, Black, Purple,
or Green.
This is the only scientific way of explaining Trunks' and Bra's hair
color.
Man.. I read WAY too into this. :)

Generally not bad, but I'm pretty sure that the Gp - Pb issue is
trying to explain two solutions with three possibilities.
I'd say that the purple is an impartial dominance with genetic
expression of bg. Just my take on it though.

Well, the problem is that you started with a false premise... You can't
prove that any of the kids in Goku's family line got their hair color ONLY
from their mother's side, as both parents have black hair. So, most people
don't wonder about it since the only "proof" that we have that this might
happen is Vejita's two kids. So we have two kids who follow their mother's
family, and three who could go either way, so.. You see the problem?
