What a blast to drive this little guy. It's like a legal go-cart I can zip
around the neighborhood in. Swishhhhhhhhh!

That reminds me of a Top Gear episode (which I do not normally watch
but happen to watch when I step into it) where they feature the
world's smallest car. I found it pretty hilarious when he drove around
inside a BBC office.

That looks fun, too, and I do sometimes feel like I shouldn't be driving
something small and exposed in traffic, not that I ever take it into heavy
traffic situations really.

I was thinking about that episode the other day (maybe there'd been a
repeat on the telly...). I reckon that there's a good chance it was
filmed after the anti-smoking-at-work legislation came into force in
the UK. Can't smoke in the office, but can drive a petrol engined car
around. And you can bet that the car predates catalytic converters.

Given the BBC's almost paranoic Health and Safety requirements, I
wonder how many fans were blowing during the filming to expell the
exhaust from the building... Heh.

How fast does it go?

Does it actually have a windscreen, or just a bimini-style roof?

Lloyd
(bimmini? biminni? I don't know how it's spelled...)

It think it's Bimini, like the island.

The car has a 7.5-horsepower motor but a governor limits it to 28 mph. The
cockpit is essentially open to the sides, but it does have fixed roof and a
windscreen replete with wiper. The back window is clear plastic Velcro'd in
place and the "doors" are also clear plastic and zip into place as part of a
sort of cozy that fits over the entire car frame. It looks sort of like
this, though without the zebra striped seat covers and somewhat off-putting
spokes model:

There's an island? I'm rubbish at Geography.

...but I do have a dictionary and atlas at hand....

OED:
bimanual, bimbo, bimetallic, bimetallism, bimillenary, bimodal,
bimonthly.

Bit of a wash-out there. Let's pull the atlas off the shelf..

Aha! Bimini Is. (Bahamas). Page 71. Ah, yeah. Just a bit south of
Grand Bahama Island. Cool.

Presumably it's fitted with seatbelts? I've no idea whether something
like that would be legal on the roads in the UK.

Yes, it has seatbelts. I don't know why it wouldn't be legal there, but
then I know little of what's kosher on the roads of Britain.

I know I saw this post before since I responded to it. My response from May

Not only is the Usenet odder than we suppose, it's odder than we can
suppose.

That would be quite odd.
