you may have a similar situation in your TV market>
In Baltimore we have Eyewitness News on Channel 13 (the home of Marty Bass).
Channel 13 has a "personality driven" approach to news. They bank on
long-term names in the local market and build up their 6 o'clock news team
as the "old friends you trust" bullshit. Okay, I can handle that but it is
the friggin' propaganda that torques my lugnuts. The do these bullshit
commercial show the anchors on helicopters, in the news van calling back the
station that they are on their way back in, and supposedly arriving on the
scene and instantly talking to the cop in charge. Riiiight! Like Denise
Koch's bovine back-side ever left the friggin anchor desk to file a real
story! Hey, there's a Ravens rally in Canton. Who should we send? Yeah lets
send the old douche bag that doesn't know a lick about sports because she is
the anchor with seniority, besides we need to air her out anyway. I really
feel sorry for Channel 13's field reporters, these are the guys getting the
job done, but yet the promos have the doughy anchors in the middle of the
action. Note to channel 13 an "anchor" is a device used to hold a boat or
ship in place, I doubt when a ship is in motion the anchor much more than
dead weight! WJZ already got rid of John Buren, the world most clueless
sports reporter and replaced him with a real sports journalist Mark Vivano.
Now give the younger folks a chance and dump Denise Koch and Bob Turk. Now
Bob Turk there's another friggin' fossil that should go gracefully in to
night. Literally thirty years ago this was the fresh faced Sunshine Kid.
Today bob is bordering being curmudgeon, and his accent because more and
more southern each year. Channel 13 has apparent tapped an heir to bob in
the blonde surfer boy Brooks Tomlin. Think about it bob, Brooks willing to
stand out on the "weather veranda in sweltering heat and bone-chilling
blizzards. Brooks is the one who goes outside to do the "raining buckets"
report, he works weekends too, plus you can hear him clearly without a bushy
mustache, deepening accent, and a gravely voice. The next iceberg leaves at
3:00 there's room for you and Denise! And finally Don and Marty... no
problem there! Although I do believe we do need Krista Delcamp in skirts.

two looked like, and what I want to know is how one station in Baltimore has
more hottie news babes than every DC station combined?!?!
I swear, if it wasn't for Susan Roberts and Eun Yang, there wouldn't be any

As for Sade... Yowza! Definitely kicks Jennifer Gilbert to the curb!
No WBAL 11 is my preferred station and in my opinion the most professional.
A close second is FOX 45 (WB 54) but my problem with FOX/WB news is they are
constantly running the same stock footage over and over, and I noticed they
always do an "artistic" view to their interviews i.e. partially obstructed
by a sign, in a rear-view mirror, etc.,etc. As for over use of graphics WJZ
and FOX/WB are very close.
And Channel 2, professional but it lacks any spark and is burdened with ABC
as their network, Peter Jennings is an albatross around the necks of local
news departments.
And when I want to get FLMTB blood pressure up, I'll flip on FOX 43 out of
Harrisburg and just wait for Heather Will.

Garceau, Keith Mills, and even Bruce Cunningham can hang with Mark Vivano,
But you must pause for the memory of Randy Blair (God rest his soul). Second
tier good guys Klaus Wagner, Chris Ely, and Brent Harris. Notable former
Baltimore sports guys Jon Saunders and Gayle Garner (loved her sear tops and
that glee she had in her eye!) Just get out town, and stay honors go to Jon
Buren, Steve Davis, and Sara Caldwell!

She had that sultry way of reading the news that always made you wait for
the end of the newscast to leave. Believe it or not Mary Beth Marsden used
to have a cult following too in the late 80's. A buddy of mine wouldn't
leave for Fells Point until the 11 o'clock news was done. Of course he lived
Highlandtown so it was a long trip!
