Imus in "Private Parts" ?

Just saw a slightly disturbing interview with Howeird on MS ...... NBC,
and naturally the topic of Imus came up. (What he was doing on MSNBC is
beyond me ...... sorta like seeing the I-Man on E! )

It seems that the upcoming movie "Private Parts" includes a scene
re-enacting the first Imus/Stern meeting at WNBC. Which, of course, leads
to 2 questions:

1) Did Imus sneak off and play himself as a cameo appearance and NOT
bother to mention it ? Or .....
2) If not, who DOES portray him ?

Since I - and probably most IITM fans - have no plan to see this movie, I
wonder if someone at MSNBC can get the rights to run that scene during IOM
? I've seen other clips on other shows ..... Maybe ? Please ... ?

No, it is an actor, whose name I didn't catch...according to E! weekly.

Haven't seen a movie in a theater since "Major League"
I'll wait. It'll be on HBO in 6 months.

I had heard they couldn't find an actor that old that could remember the
lines, so they are using the puppet from "Tales from The Crypt". There is a
resemblance.....

You can find ANYthing on the web.. here's the bio on who plays J.D.
Imus:

LUKE REILLY plays the well-known disc jockey and radio personality Don
Imus. He appeared on
Broadway in "Vieux Carre," and other New York stage productions
including "Particular
Friendships" and "Angels In the Attic." Reilly's film credits
include "Imaginary Crimes" and "Bye Bye
Blues"; on television in "Law & Order," "The Commish," "Kojak,"
"Life on The Mississippi"; and in
the soaps "As the World Turns," "Another World," "One Life to Live"
and "Ryan's Hope."

You can find this and other info on the Stern movie at:
www.private-parts.com

But only if you are over 18... they are very strict about that! LOL!

Howard Stern happens to be BIG news at the moment... this is why MSNBC
featured the piece.

I was gonna help you out here... but somebody already posted the
answer. BTW... I really can't see any scenario where Howard would
invite Imus to do anything involving both he and Howard.
Kinda like... been there, done that.

Imus fans or not???

Most of the things that Howard does are copied, re-played, re-enacted,
etc. Hang in there, Vicky... the movie will be BIG and you will
eventually get to see the clip. After a while, even Imus will be
compelled to play it.

I agree with Ms. Vickie. The clips I have seen have failed to convince
me that my life will be incomplete if I don't see this movie. So, I
won't be going. This doesn't mean I am bad mouthing the movie or
anything else, but it doesn't flop my mop. And since this is the iitm
group, its unlikely that many of us have this on our 'must-pay-to-view'
list.

Oh I agree, the movie will make money. But the only time I will see it
is if it appears on either HBO/SHOWTIME. And then only because I am
surfing.

I doubt that Stern will allow that. But we can wait for the video to
come out (shouldn't be too long) and draw straws to see who rents it
(loser rents it ;-). Then, we can get a first-hand account from the
group spokesperson.

He also said he hopes that the movie makes a lot of money because then Imus will make a lot of money off of it (ie., in a defamation action as apparently it does not truthfully portray the I'man and puts him in a bad light.)

I've read on this NG the following:
The E! show is bombing
Howard's PPV will bomb
Private Parts would bomb
Miss America would bomb
Howard would never beat Imus in Boston...

The list goes on and on. Needless to say:
None of the above came even close to what actually happened.

I'm glad that some ppl here are now saying that the movie will bomb.

It's a real good omen !!!

I don't watch or listen to Stern often but I believe
he is talented. I enjoy IITM but I have no problem
with Stern. I think they are both brilliant.

I believe "Private Parts" will be a hit. And I hope it
is.

I read somewhere just a few minutes ago that Stern is being
considered to play the.....hmmm, what was it,I think "Scarecrow"
on Batman 5 to be released in '99. The article stated that "Scarecrow"
comes from an original circa '45 (that's close) Batman Comic Book.

I "love the I-Man" and I certainly wish the best for Howard Stern.

Why do these things have to be mutually exclusive?

What a genius he is. Maybe he should call his attorney and ask for
the definition of "public figure." Or maybe he should think about
what he'd do if Ted Kennedy, Ross Perot, or any of the people he
lampoons ever threatened to sue HIM... Chance of success either way=
$0.

And Imus doesn't take the brunt of the movie's humor at all- it's
mostly directed at composites of the WNBC PDs (in a character that may
resemble Kevin Metheny a bit) and GMs (in an amalgam of Dom Fioravanti
and John Hayes). Imus really doesn't have much to worry about- the
real villians in the movie are the bosses.

I believe that you may have misunderstood what was meant by Imus'
statement. As both he and Stern are employed by CBS radio (formerly
Infinity Broadcasting), and Imus is a shareholder in that company (as
I assume Stern is) if CBS gets part of the take from this movie, the
shareholders, including Imus and Stern, will profit from it (if it
makes a profit at all; cult movies rarely do, "Rocky Horror" may be
an exception).

I repeat, why would CBS get a dime from a Paramount movie? They are two
totally different contracts. A hit movie means that CBS will have to
sweeten the deal(ie. more money or more stations) next time Howard's
contract is up, this can't be good for underperforming members of the CBS
family.

I think the rewards for the I-man are more ephemeral. WNnnnnBC and
comparing Stern to Imus take up alot of the movie, and I have to believe,
especially after his National Press speech, that Imus would consider any
press good press.

And just to comment on the Imus scene, as the I-man has always professed,
he, in real life, is as he is on the radio and Stern is not. This movie
definitely proves that!

WNBC is a large part of the movie, but Imus barely gets a mention. In the scene
where the movie makes a point about how the idiots at the radio station think
that properly saying WNNNNNNBC is some great talent that is necessary for a
successful show, Imus is mentioned as the person that best possesses this
"talent". I has hoping hoping for some funny scenes where Imus would be sitting
in a puddle of his own urine while passed out on the street in a drug induced
stupor.

We didn't need the movie to know that about Stern, he has always freely
admitted it, but what is funny is that there are Imus listeners that swallow --
hook line and sinker -- his B.S. about his radio persona being real and the
same as his real life persona. Talk about gullible. I thought the "smart" ones
were supposed to be the Imus listeners.
