Since this seems to have disappeared from the net, I thought I'd repost it

THE (unofficial) DISNEY AFTERNOON SIGNATURE CODE

This really isn't anything big; I simply noticed that there was no signature
code for Disney Afternoon fans, and that such a code might come in handy
for narrowing down common interests. The Disney Afternoon appeals to a
huge variety of different interests, some of which are downright
contradictory.

The Disney Afternoon code works basically like the Geek Code or the Goth
Code, but it's a lot simpler. You figure out the code that applies to you,
then add it to your signature file when sending messages to other Disney
fans.

Adding the signature code to your signature file is a good way to network
with other Disney fans who know about the code. If you see someone who
likes the same shows as you are, you can start up a conversation (probably
with the immortal question "What's your favorite episode?").

HOW THE CODE WORKS

First, start out with the letters DA, to indicate which signature code this
is.

Then, for each show in the Disney Afternoon (and every Saturday morning
Disney show with a similar format) list the abbreviation for that show
(given below) and a number of plusses or minuses that indicate how much
you like (or dislike) that show. If you haven't seen that show, leave
the abbreviation out entirely, or use a question mark instead of plusses
and minuses.

For example, the abbreviation for Darkwing Duck is DW. Here's how that
part of the code would look for various individuals:

DW++++ Darkwing Duck is the best cartoon ever made.
DW+++ I never miss an episode of Darkwing Duck.
DW++ Darkwing Duck is a really great show!
DW+ I like Darkwing Duck, but I don't *love* it.
DW I've seen Darkwing Duck, and it made no
impression on me.
DW- I don't really like Darkwing Duck.
DW-- Darkwing Duck is really boring.
DW--- I hate Darkwing Duck.
DW---- They never should have made Darkwing Duck!

There's only one complication. Some shows changed radically during their
runs. If you liked one part of a show's run more than another, you can
use the split-up abbreviations. If you liked or disliked the whole show
just about equally you can just use the single abbreviation. This only
really applies to DuckTales and Gargoyles.

That's about it, really. Here are the abbreviations for the shows I
consider part of the Disney Afternoon. If there's a show you think
should be here that isn't, e-mail me (rai...@gate.net) or just put the
abbreviation in and start using it.

DT DuckTales in general
DTC DuckTales (before Gizmo and Bubba were added)
DTN DuckTales (after Gizmo and Bubba were added)

GG Gargoyles in general
GGC Gargoyles (not including Goliath Chronicles)
GGG Gargoyles (Goliath Chronicles only)

GB Adventures of the Gummi Bears
LM The Little Mermaid
RR Chip and Dale's Rescue Rangers
TS TaleSpin
GT Goof Troop
DW Darkwing Duck
SM Shnookums & Meat Funny Cartoon Show
AL Aladdin
BK Bonkers!
TP The Lion King's Timon and Pumbaa
MD The Mighty Ducks
QP Quack Pack

Here's an example of a completed Disney Afternoon signature code:

DA DTC++ DTN- GG+++ GB+ LM? RR-- TS GT- DW++++ SM AL++
BK- TP- MD QP+

Okay. First, the DA tells us that this is the Disney Afternoon code, not
the Dragon Code or the Geek Code. Next, we can see from the DTC++ and
DTN- that this person really liked the original DuckTales, but didn't care
for it after Gizmoduck and Bubba Duck were added. However, they absolutely
loved the entire run of Gargoyles. They also kind of liked Gummi Bears,
but weren't fanatical about it.

From the question mark after the LM, we can tell that they've never seen
the Little Mermaid cartoon -- probably because it was moved to the Disney
Channel. They strongly disliked Rescue Rangers, were ambivalent about
TaleSpin, and didn't care for Goof Troop.

The big clue is the next one -- the DW++++. Obviously, this person is a
major-league Darkwing Duck fan!

The rest of the code proceeds like this. They don't have an opinion about
Schnookums & Meat, like Aladdin a lot, don't care for Bonkers or Timon and
Pumbaa, don't have an opinion about Mighty Ducks, and kind of like Quack
Pack.

So, by looking at this code, we can see that this person would probably be
really interested in files or information about Gargoyles or Darkwing
Duck; they might be interested in buying Darkwing Duck memorabilia, and
would be a good person to ask if YOU were looking for Darkwing materials.
They'd also probably be interested in discussing DuckTales or Aladdin.
But, if you're a big Rescue Rangers fan, you might want to steer clear of
the topic, because that's not an interest you have in common.

The Little Mermaid was never on the Disney Afternoon.

What are the codes for Hercules, Recess, Pepper Ann, Doug, The
Weekenders, Buzz Lightyear, Tarzan, and Sabrina?
