If the person is a hiring manager or in human resources, of course they can
Google a job candidate pre-hire (before extending a job offer) or post-hire
(e.g., transitioning someone to another position).
But for anyone else, yes... that would mean firing the reporting party who
used company resources on company time to do the dirt digging--or who used
company resources to look someone up
for reporting their online behavior outside of company time--as the
responsible thing to do.
