As most fans probably already know, David Duchovny celebrates his 40th birthday
on Monday August 7, 2000. While I'm sure a lot of people would like to send
'jade elephants' and the like, celebrities often request that a contribution be
made to a favorite charity instead of a gift.
Cathy from Chimerical Publications and I really liked that David donated his
winnings from his appearance on Who Wants to Be A Millionaire to the East
Harlem School at Exodus House and so we contacted them to organize donations
made on David's behalf to flow to them. For detailed information on what the

Our contact, Paul Brill, (who was more than patient with my numerous emails)
has given us all of the information I think we need to get this rolling. The
East Harlem School accepts donations by checks or money orders (no cash or
credit cards please!) payable to:

Contributions of any size are welcome! If you have any questions you can email
Amy. With your generosity, we can make this a great fund raising event and
you can help to shape a child's future with your tax deductible donation.
As you know, in years past fans have sent donations to NF for both Gillian and
her daughter's birthday and last year both Cyn from GAWS and I worked with the
Pediatric Aids Association to set up donations to be made in David's baby's
honor when she was born and proceeds from the booksales on this site will
continue to go to in equal parts to NF and Pediatric Aids.
We hope to make this fund raising drive just as successful!
Since I know it's important for a lot of you to know that David will know of
your well wishes for his birthday, when you send in your donation, you can make
a note that it's in honor of David Duchovny's birthday with a reference to the
Haven on the notes or memo line of your check. This would be a big help in
trying to organize all the money raised on their behalf.
While I know it's an extra step, when you send in your donation, drop me a note
at an email account I set up just for this project at:
haven_bd...@yahoo.com. Let me know how much you donated, along with your
name or email address. I'll save all the emails and list all the names and
grand total on a card (the one we scanned in on the top left of this page)
which I will forward on to FOX for David, like we did with David's daughter's
birthday donations.
Design David's Card Contest
We're so appreciative all of the talent and generosity of the fan base that we
wanted to add a dimension recognizing you all to this project. To that end
we've decided to have a 'Design David's Birthday Card' contest!
Your Birthday card submission can be created on the computer in a graphics
program using existing images of David, Mulder, David and Tea, Blue Duchovny,
etc. Or, if you can scan in your pencil sketch, watercolor, oil, pastel or
other medium artwork.
Please create or scan your image in .jpg format. And please, no submissions
larger than 600 x 800 resolution! Your completed card can be submitted to this
address: haven_bd...@yahoo.com.
We'll compile all the images we recieve and allow fans to vote on the cards
they like best. The top 5 cards will be included in the list of donators and
sent to David via Fox. The top three winners will win prizes as follows:
Grand Prize: X-Files Season One DVD or International Prize of equal value.
First Place: Wave 8 VHS tape set or International Prize of equal value.
Second Place: The End and the Beginning Episode Guide.
Third and Fourth Place: Return to Me Movie Poster
5 Honorable Mentions: 8x10 glossies of David or Mulder.
We'll take submissions from July 20th until midnight Eastern Standard Time on
July 27th. Voting will begin on July 28th and will run until midnight Eastern
Standard Time on August 3, 2000.
Also, Donations and names for the acknowledgment letter will be recorded until
August 3, 2000 as well, however, you can still donate past that point.
