Greetings, fellow Conan Fans!
Hi, I'm Daphne Brown, your latest addition to alt.fan.conan-obrien! I
can't quite say I'm new here, as I have been "lurking" for
approximately eight months. Let's see...a little information about me,
shall we?
As I said earlier, my name is Daphne Brown. I have no middle name, and
I'm damn proud of it too!
I live in DC, that's all I'm going to say though, because I don't want
any online weirdos stalking me. :D
I go to Thomas Jefferson High School for Science and Technology.
Because I live in DC, I shouldn't go there, but I'm special.
I'm 17 years old, single, and again, damn proud of that! A real woman
does not need to be completed by a man!
I hate teenyboppers, though I must admit to indulging in a little MTV
once in a while. However, even though I am not the least bit
acquainted with the music of Bach, Beethoven, Mozart, and the like, I
am appalled that they would even _consider_ taking over the Met for one
night!
I've been watching Conan for a little over a year now.
I hope to be a professor of biology at UVA (Go Cavaliers!!)
I think that's about it for now, I look foward to posting!

Though I'm not the offical Welcome Wagon, Jean seems to be on her own
hiatus, so Welcome, Daphne! what took you so long to post?

I live in Virginia, about half an hour from you...

Cool beans! I had a friend that went there for two years, but moved and
couldn't go anymore. She misses it.

Then steer clear of posts with unusual punctuation. As for being acquainted
with the classics, stick to me for a while, and you'll know enough to want
to puke (See my post: "Off Topicness", and my signature). :) Yes, what MTV
is doing to the Met is absolutely appalling, have you seen the
advertisements?! UGH!

Woohoo! UVA! Biology! You are definitely cool, my friend. :D

It will never work I think they have the same (female)
equipment. They do have a lot in common (BRAINS) it seems.
But unless Daphne is a male.. ...well you know.
I think Daphne is a cool name. I'll use it sometime for an
alias. I wish I thought of that name, before I named my cat
Kitty Kitty Meow Meow.

Quite commendable. I'm sure you've read the FAQ, but if you haven't, it's on
Damone's very very lovely page, which puts almost all others to shame...and it
so beautiful it makes me want to weep, at: http://idt.net/~damone/gconan.html

Now, as for me. I'm Tracey Heather. Or Zonga. Or Mazonga. Or Tracey. Or several
other things found at the title page found in my sig. In AFCOB, I'm a Kandi

And a very nice name it is. That's a very English name if you don't mind me
saying so. So's mine. I quite like my name.

We...stalk people? Well, only for fun & profit...we mean no harm....I think.

Yesh, you are. So'm I. I don't go to a real school at all, I don't.
Technically, I go to a private school, but I'm homeschooled through it...why
the hell am I telling the NG this? I don't know...ooh, the wall are melting

Yesh! But I must admit that my piano is getting all the excercise, and
Emilie (My high-powered microscope) is collecting dust. <hangs head low>
But I'm taking AP bio starting on Tuesday!
Hm..I just realized something. My microscope has a name, but my piano
doesn't. Any suggestions? I also own a clarinet, a fife, and a penny
whistle if anyone wants to name those too, but my piano's my most prized
possession...next to that comes my computer (also nameless), my CDs (all
nameless, all 50 or so of them), and my Die Zauberflöte score (Which I shall
just call "Die Zauberflöte"). Sad, isn't it?

Yup. Julian.

Foof the Fife? Penelope the Penny Whistle? Clara the Clarinet... Not

I named my computer Fritz, suppose you can guess on that one. Named my

I like Oskar that's my dads name. Audrey that is the
German spelling for oscar. it's much better than the c, I
think. You could call the Penny whistle Pader ( spelled
phonetically ) That's the German name for Peter.

It's from an opera Mozart helped write. I don't know the story, I just

You don't have to do anything, but what you're already doing
by being a koherent poster. And do your best to uphold the

May I suggest the Mike Gaine's Conan fonts/dingbats? There

How about my love of writing utensils. I bought about
fifty of them within the last two weeks. This time of year
all the stores have the new pens, and pencils out. I become
weak, and grab all the ones I don't have. Lisa frank has
some cute ones out this year. My point is that sometimes we
become attached to the oddest things.

yes, she's really famous - vastly. (abosolutely no sarcasm intended,
seriously.. i'm picturing mr.burns saying 'my vast fortune..vast!'... are you a
simpsons fan yourself?)

no, definately not bondage, just other...things. [confidential the other

contrary to popular belief, they won't know or care if you don't watch, unless
of course you're a nielsen family. are you?

Lurking's not bad. I only ever post in here, alt.music.ben-folds-five, and
once in a great while in a.m.dave-matthews. i lurk in far more newsgroups..
including one[s?] where it is expressly verboten. no one has to know if you
don't tell them...

>Daphne Brown

i agree with whoever said the politeness is unnecessary (sKunK?). it's
disconcerting.

>[from another post i'm too lazy to quote from, you saying you go to a
prestigious private school]

I transferred this year to a public one named after the school. before that i
went to this catholic all-girls one... and let me just say that i'm glad you
like your school. at mine they pretended they were so prestigious, but in
actuality, i'm pretty sure they didn't deny anyone admission. they surely peed
their pants when they saw the straight 99 percentile scores I got on their
'entrance exam', and couldn't work their chubby little fingers fast enough to
give me a $1000 a year scholarship. you know how many graduates last year got
into an ivy league school? zero. you know how many got into even second tier
schools? three, two got into BC, i forget the third's school. that's out of
well about 120. I'm sorry, I tend to rant about how much I despise them. It
won't happen again.

I see you you like biology. I took honors bio last year (they don't offer ap
til senior year), and thinking about it makes me nauseated, literally. it
surely does take all kinds, though!

on a completely unrelated note not directed at anyone in particularly, i just
changed my sig. go me.

oh, and I'm from southwestern CT (more rich democrats per capita than anywhere
in the country!). just saying.
so, uh, that's all. welcome to the group,

Yesh. She's been mentioned twice directly on the show. But since you've been
lurking 8 months, you probably know that. Makes it so much easier when the
newbies have been lurking. Then we don't have to explain so much of what's
going on.

Jolly good. Damone will be so proud...but you seem to have very good ettiquette

We're kinki only because several of our members like to dress the male members

Hmm...I've had quite a few people tell me that in the few days I've

Yes. As I have stated before, I am choosing to boycott MTV that night;
actually, a group of us have been MTV-free for the past week or so.
It's such a labour for some, but for others, they find it gives them
more time to accomplish their favourite activities.

I have heard as much. And what is the explaination for this

You have a clarinet too? <gawks in awe> We can be clarinet buddies! Did
you know that the clarinet was one of Mozart's most favoritest instruments?
I started playing the clarinet before I found out though, so it must be some
instinctual Mozartian urge...
My clarinet's very feminine. Her keys are all nice and shiny..what about

As the newly ordained resident Mozart freak of afcob, I'll tell you that

lol. I am not alone! pen addictions only get worse. you'll
start collecting antique ones then the unusual ones, then you
will start buying them every place you visit. It doesn't
stop there either there's pencils! Colored pencils, charcoal
pencils, water color pencil's

ooh... d'ya have some of those ultra-nifty Expresso pens? fine point?
in red? i love them... excellent for writing and inexpensive to boot!
although, i can never seem to find the red ones here. they have plenty

slightest pressure. i haven't been able to find that here in the

Aww, thanks. But I just don't think the judges that will judge me will be
the same inept philistine-type people who don't really understand music.
And have you seen the young talent out there? phew.

Yes there are so many talented people out there, but only
the charismatic will make it. You have to develop something
in your performance that will make you stand out, from the
rest. Let's say there are twenty people with talent equal to
yours, but they can only pick one. The one who stands out
the most will be the one they chose. Train to be a total
performer, not just a musician, that's only part of it.

I know.

You can do it singing, but you can't actually go around with a lot of
character while behind a keyboard. I mean, I get into it and such, and it
looks (note: looks) quite impressive, but it's harder to reach judges when
you're hiding behind an instrument.

Now THAT's one crappy crowd, I'll tell you that.

Oh, that I know. Playing an instrument looks so easy, but it actually takes
so much control. Like a non-athletic sport...well..you do get a workout...

Sometimes, yes; but sometimes some of them can be wonderful.

has later in the thread.

I hope you're not just fishing for compliments.
The entire world is competitive, it's not really much different than the music
world.
So you just keep working and working, until the spare tyres start piling..
I am sorry, that hardly made any sense. I must be going daffy.
