I just got back from a weeklong stay in the up and coming resort
town of Pagosa Springs, Colorado.
Pagosa still has a long way to go before it's Park City 2.0, but
it's trying hard. The summer weather is gorgeous, there are lots
of nearby recreational activities, from biking to hiking to
hunting and fishing to marijuana.
There are two recreational marijuana dispensaries in Pagosa Springs.
One is near the golf course and its prices are a bit high ($20/g!).
The other one is on Cloman Blvd., a dirt road off Piedra (third
right after turning off 160). Prices are $12/g, except for the
"Bruce Banner" strain, which is $15/g. "Keef Kola," with 10mg THC
per bottle, is $8. The famous "O.Pen Vape" e-joint with one
250mg marijuana oil cartridge costs $66 -- with refills presumably
costing about $40 each. (Each cartridge is roughly equivalent to
up to 1/4oz (7g) of high-quality cannabis bud.)
Whether you approve of marijuana or not, it is no coincidence that
property prices in Pagosa are exploding. Though Pagosa is still a
hicktown, its perfect weather (summer at least), wide variety of
nearby attractions (e.g. Mesa Verde, skiing), and, above all,
recreational marijuana products, make Pagosa poised to take the
tourist banner from Park City and Aspen.
