Charleen Dimmick, 70, passed away Monday evening following a brief
illness. She and Charles were married for 47 years. I had to the good
fortune to see her on a few occasions and she was always bright, cheery
and entertaining. She will be missed.
I have exchanged brief email with Charles and he says that he is being
well supported by his community and is coping by keeping himself busy.
The only arrangements that I am aware of are for a memorial service to be
held at a date to be determined.
Bon voyage, Charleen!
And Charles ... my condolences and best wishes.

If Charles is the sort of person he seems to be on Usenet, I'm sure that his
friends, neighbors and familty will take very good care of him. I wish him
strength during this difficult time.
Charles, my condolences to you and your family. I am sure she will be
much missed. Lee, thank you for letting us know.

Charles, my thoughts are with you at this difficult time.
It's very strange to think you were married in the year I was born.
That's a whole lifetime.

Lee, thank you for letting us know. Will you be posting to AFU as
well?

I hadn't thought to, I assumed that anyone still reading AFU would also
be in the secret cabal and would know by now. It does occur to me that
that does leave out any remaining lurkers.
Charleen was born January 15, 1940 in Columbia, MO daughter of the late
Charles Wesley and Lucille (Mauzey) Fristoe.
Charleen attended the Stephen F. Austin State University in Nacogdoches,
TX where she received her master’s degree. She was Assistant Registrar
of Voters for the town of Cheshire prior to her retirement.
Charleen was a member of St. Peter’s Episcopal Church in Cheshire; she
was a piano player for services at the Highland Health Care Center, a
member of The Cheshire Grange, Secretary for New Haven County Pomona
Grange, and a former member of The Cheshire Energy Commission.
Charleen is survived by two sons Byron Wesley Dimmick of Providence, RI,
and Edward A. Dimmick of Norwich; a brother Thomas Fristoe of
California; and a niece Danielle Fristoe of California. She was
predeceased by a brother Charles Wesley Fristoe Jr.
Arrangements- A Memorial Service for Charleen will be held October 30 at
St. Peter’s Episcopal Church, 59 Main St., Cheshire at 10 am. Burial
will follow in St. Peter’s Cemetery. There are no calling hours.
Donations in Charleen’s name may be made to Friends of Feral Cheshire

And all this time I thought Charleen was a pseudonym (since she was

Charles, you have my utmost sympathy. Forty-Seven years is a long

I'm so sorry for your and Ed's loss.

Yes, it was out. It was accepting messages, but they were not being

Belated condolences Charles. (I learned about this before it was

honor of Charleen.) I've been grieving with you in spirit these past

I'm so sorry to hear that. :(
We're here whenever you want to be, Charles...
I have four families giving me support:
1. My relatives in the usual sense.
2. My Church family.
3. My Grange family.
4. My imaginary friends on Usenet and other places on the aether.
I have found the best therapy so far is to keep very busy with all four.
As Chaplain for the local Grange, I draped the charter Wednesday
evening, both for Charleen and for an elderly friend who died just two
weeks before. And Thursday night through late this afternoon I have been
at Grange State Session, our annual state Grange meeting, where they
kept me plenty busy.
