Both senators from OK opposed aid to the victims of hurricane Sandy.
Now, one of them wants any aid to his constituents to be counterbalanced
by cuts elsewhere in the budget. In other words, he wants congress to
divert money from some other use to help his people.

Nope. These two senators are for real, unfortunately.

God hates Oklahomans. Being Oklahoman is a choice. Those people need to
renounce their lifestyle, ask for forgiveness, and move to another state.
Then God will forgive them and love them again. He is a loving and
forgiving God.

Katrina hit Catholic New Orleans. This tornado hit god-fearing
Oklahoma.

Sandy. Tornado. One highly religious area. One area that keeps
religion out of its politics. It looks like god doesn't care. Or
maybe doesn't even exist.

He needs some Anger Management classes. He has a long history of emotional
outbursts and then acting out. The Old Testament is full of his tantrums,
and His smiting entire civilizations just because he got pissed off about
something trivial... Maybe the Buddhists or Hindoos can teach him how to
meditate and control Himself better.

Yeah, those Buddhists are peaceful, except when they up and kill a
bunch of people. But that hasn't happened since... yesterday?

Some adherents follow the Path better than others.

The Dalai Lama was here over the weekend. For $50-$100 you could hear him
give a talk. And in the afternoon, there was another "special talk" that
you could attend with purchase of another ticket.

I wonder if he has a theme song? Like the US President has "Hail to the
Chief". When the Dalai Lama strolls onto the stage, is there music?

Imhofe had already firmly established himself as a grade-A prime asshole.
He must be trying for the Asshole Hall of Fame.

You can skip the last 100 repetitions, they're about the same.

My older brother is coming from the Bay Area this weekend and is a Buddhist,
and has gone to some ashram or whatever you call it north of SF for
retreats. Will he be impressed by this if I play what you posted on the TV
via the stereo speakers, and also Stanley's link?

Not sure what strain of Buddhist he is exactly but his wife is from Thailand
and he goes there occasionally.

What a horrible thing to say in wake of a tragedy. From a so-called
religious leader. The ultimate "blaming the victim"; most the people there
are probably devout xtians that survived (and did not survive). And he sits
in some comfortable chair in a tv studio and tells the survivors that family
members were killed, maimed, business damaged and destroyed, houses and
belongs gone; that all those terrible things happened because they did not
pray, is one of the most insensitive things anyone could say. What is his
point in even saying such a thing? What he said if far worse than anyone
ridiculing religion. Where is that man's basic human compassion?
