So I got to thinking, if I do use this little Moka pot, I'm going
to have to find some way to apply heat to it. See, I live in a
hovel, and I live in squalor. Seriously, there are only a few
people in the world who understand me that I trust to let visit
me. I'm not exactly ashamed of the way I live, but I'm not proud
of it either. Add to that, I'm a junk collector. I have to walk
sideway most places in my room.

You've seen those stamped metal decorative burner covers you can
get for your stove. You just set them over the burners, be they
electric or gas, and viola, you have more pilot places. Well, my
entire stovetop is covered with Stuff. It would take a concerted
effort, and half a day to find other places to put this Stuff
before I could use the stove for its intended purpose. (I really
do need to do this RSN, cuz I need to make Bill's Famous Triple
Chocolate Coma Cake.)

Curiously, Friday I was at a thrift store (that's not the curious
part) and found a Braun Espresso Mini 963. I studied it
carefully, and determined that all its parts were present and in
pretty good shape. So, I got it $7.99. It just plugs in, amd I
do have some spare outlets avaiable. On the way back I stopped at
rainbow groc to get some actual coffee.

Then yesterday I went on another shopping expedition, and guess
what? I found a plethora (well quite a few) of spare parts for
it, including three new wee glass carafes ($1.99 ea.), two still
in their boxes, a replacement breather tube for the milk frother,
and various parts which I wouldn't have recognized previously,
but didn't need (such as the two-cup drip separator). I think
I'll try it out today.

The curious part was that you were picking up rather than dropping
off! ;-)

It took me a while to get it. You think that because I have so
much Stuff, I ought to be giving it away. I think not.

I live to shop.

Anyway thanks to all in the other thread for your info & advice.
Here's the brand of coffee I got at Grocery Outlet (aka rainbow
grocery, cuz their logo is a rainbow, but there's an actual
Rainbow Grocery in the City):

http://bayareacoffeeinc.com/coffees_and_products.html it's the
Rio Grande version, Espresso Roast, whole bean (ingredients:
coffee, natural and artificial flavors, GLUTEN FREE) and I used
their grinder to grind it at the coarser of the two 'espresso'
settings.

I just this minute had my first taste of it. I'm not sure that
I'll be able to take it black, not that it's too strong, I think,
but... I dunno, maybe it is, or maybe I just need to sweeten &
whiten it. :-)

I just added the ingredients parenthetical above; maybe what I'm
tasting is the "smoke" flavor, which I did not read when I was
buying it. I'm so ignorant.

Also yesterday at the same Goodwill in Santa Rosa where I got the
extra carafes, I got one little demi-tasse. I thought I was going
to have a hard time finding one that wouldn't be too frou-frou.
This one is white porcelain with a gold stripe at the rim.
Tastefully underatated.

Well anyway, I think that what I just got is a coffee concentrate
maker. That's ok too.

Does sweetemed & whitened espresso = cappuccino?
