Lots of "House" fans here (many from NJ), so hopefully
someone will know the answer...
from the tv series "House", aired earlier this week (season premiere).
----
Setup: House is serving a year behind bars in NJ for driving
his car into Cuddy's home [a]. He's just been told by the parole
board that, because of overcrowding, they'll let him out
in a week. But only if he behaves.
He's doing janitorial duty in the prison, and one of
his stops is in the infirmary. He overhears the new,
female, and cute... doctor make what he believes is an
error in diagnosing/treating a patient.
He suggests another course of treatment.
She asks him why he's so sure she'll follow his advice:
House: Because you're a smart, old money, trust fund girl who
took this job because (inaudible), because you
want to make a difference, because you're already getting
bored, and this (case) is getting interesting
her: Why would you say any of that?
House: Your shoes. Different, expensive pair every day.
Never leather. Which means you're both rich and liberal.
Antique locket. it's unpolished gold, (inaudible)
mixture of things, it's a family heirloom, which
means old money.
Osler scarf, but only on Fridays. which means you did your
residency at Hopkins. Which means you're smarter than our
interactions would so far indicate.
[a] Dr. Lisa Cuddy was House's boss, whiney periodic girfriend,
and an enabler for his drug addictions.
[b] William Osler was one of the founders of Johns Hopkins.
