Either he's an idiot, a wingnut (he gave the interview to Fox "News"),
or under enormous pressure from the intelligence agencies.

He may be a wingnut, and probably is under enormous pressure from certain
faceless individuals. But he's an idiot, regardless. There's a lot of it
about: anyone remember this 2003 Kirk Anderson cartoon?

Agreed all around. He should have said "...the freedoms that are no
longer protected (in the U.S.)"
