There is also Whip me, beat me, call me Edna.

In grad school I had a friend who would say "whip me, beat me, call me
Ruth". Since my mother-in-law is Ruth it added an odd spin to it.

Huh, so is mine. Are you sure you're not me? I mean, nobody has seen us
together.

I recall it from "Eating Raoul". Ah, close:

"Beat me, Doris! Whip me! Make me write bad
checks!"

Ah. That muddies things. Looks like it came out slightly earlier than the
Black 47 album containing "Maureen". And at about the same time Rick Dees
released an album called "Hurt Me Baby, Make Me Write Bad Checks".

That's MY mother's name. Is one of you the reincarnation of my first
wife?

Perhaps if I'd specified a brass one, it

Must be him. I'm too old to be her.

The quote is unfinished and the above lyrics are not accurate. The quote comes from a friend of Deborah Harry of "Blondie" the band back in 1979. After a grueling studio session, while we rested in an apartment in Hollywood, Barry Anton revealed the passage "Whip me, Beat me. Love me makes me write bad check. Lick my toes and call me UUURma". Deborah was not attending the session.

Thanks... now we'll have to wait another four years to see if anyone can
improve on 1979.
