Passions
'Talutiel Prince of Romania. Art thou brave?'
'Decadence. You know I'm not brave. How can I be? I'm barely 2 feet tall,' replied Talutiel the Seraphim to Decadence, heavy metal Queen of Symonston, Canberra. They were in Terraphora in Bunyan, out the back of Shelandragh May's home which she had acquired in the official Bunyan of Terraphora a while back. It had not been cheap – Terraphora was quite challenging for humankind to gain acquisition in, but Shelandragh had been one of earliest inhabitants on Earth for the correlating address in Terraphora, so she had decent rights, and had used them to acquire her more permanent home of her many abodes. Decadence lived in her place in Canberra on New Terra most usually, up the road from Chakola were the Bridges lived and Lucy Smith resided much of the time, though she was often up in the sixth heavenly realm on her adventures. Today Shelandragh and Lucy were inside, having tea and Tim Tams. There was a – presence – among them. Lucifer the Saruvim of the Realm of Infinity. Long dreaded by all who had any form of sanity, but the most sarcast of loving hearts towards Lucy. He adored her. It had started crudely – he raped her, and did not give a damn. But she had never reported it when her memories had returned at a later date, instead turning her oppression into strength and defying Lucifer's grim power he desired over her. And then it had happened, that weird sort of affection for those you could hate so much, probably because in the end he shagged her because he fancie her, and she found him attractive in a primal way. For a witch – albeit one of animistic spirituality – the passion of the heart of evil had an appeal. Lucifer was the heart of darkness, and Lucy was drawn to that power and that cruel freedom. She was the wisest of witches, and used white magic, and never darkness. But how could a witch ever refuse the devil? How could she. Decadence knew they were in there, and Lucifer would have eaten most of the Tim Tams and would be watching the TV, probably the occultists channels, having his fun with the semi-legal programming, and Lucy would be chatting with Shelandragh, and insulting Lucifer, who could probably hear her from the living room.
'Still, brave is what you should be, Tiny Talutiel,' replied Decadence. 'God made little people to be of big courage. You have a big heart.'
'Actually, its a pretty small heart,' replied Talutiel 'I'm a little guy.'
'There is more to the size of a heart than its physical dimensions, Talutiel,' replied Decadence. 'So I ask thee again, art thou brave?'
'Yes, fair maiden. Talutiel is brave,' sighed Talutiel.
'Then go inside and nick the other packet of Tim Tams before Lucifer takes them,' said Decadence. 'And the maltesters too.'
Talutiel sighed with a 'why me' look on his face, but obyed his mistress, climbing in through the cat door in the back door, because with his size it just was so much easier and quicker than knocking and waiting for the ladies.
'Shelandragh,' said Talutiel.
'Yes Talutiel,' replied Shelandragh.
'Can I have the other packet of Tim Tams?'
Lucy looked towards the living room. She quietly walked to the pantry, took the packet, and gave them to Talutiel. 'I'll say we ran out,' said Lucy softly, so that Lucifer would no hear.
'Thank you Lucy,' replied Talutiel. He smiled at the two witches, and went back outside to the back yard. He presented the bikkies to Decadence.
'You are brave to risk the wrath of the Devil, dear Talutiel 'I shall grant you half the pack as your reward.'
'One will be enough,' said Talutiel.
'Yes, I suppose it will,' replied Decadence, looking at his size. 'Dear Talutiel, whatever are we to do with you?' asked Decadence. 'You've been hanging around a while now, and I fear that Shelandragh has grown rather attached to you.'
'It seems,' replied Talutiel. 'I'm a little bit odd to a lot of people, being so small. This seems to be where I fit. With a couple of white witches, and a heavy metal queen who thinks she has the best metal collection in the universe.'
'Second to none,' replied Decadence. 'It's a passion I'll never die on either.'
'We all have passions,' replied Talutiel. 'I just wish I knew what mine was.'
'You'll find it in time, brave Prince of Romania,' said Decadence. 'Now eat a cookie.'
Talutiel smiled, and munched down on a Tim Tam, as Decadence put up the music again, and they continued playing witches and goblins with their play figurine set, with all its complicated rules. Talutiel did not really think he had a passion in the end, he was too sensible to get life preoccupied with any major plan, but he did have a fancy for his current entourage. That Shelandragh May accepted him, and in a world were someone of his size often had challenges making friends, acceptance was hard to find. He might be hanging around the lady for quite some time. Quite some time indeed.
