Dear All,

Judith Proctor, who runs the Hermit site, contacted me (I've bought quite a
lot of B7 fic from her) that she has some B7 fic zines "taking up shelf space
that I need for other things" and that she'll sell the copies for 0 cost
except for postage+packing (which is usually very modest).

She's said it's fine for me to post ad for them with her email contact.
(Don't contact me about them.)

If you want inexpensive B7 fic (mostly not available anywhere online), this
is a good opportunity!
Contact Judith to let her know what of the below you want, she'll tell you how
much postage+packing costs etc.

Pressure Point - highly recommended! Judith Proctor describes it:
"A4 zine, with some excellent fiction by Susan Cutter, Chris Blenkarn, Nickey
Barnard, Marian Mendez and others. 75 pages and definitely recommended by me
(I only reprint zines I like). This would normally rate as a genzine, but
contains one story that some people would rate as slash(y). It contains no
explicit sex. The story is not intended to be erotica which is why it is
included in the zine."
Blake appears in just about every story, so Rojophiles might like this zine.

Renaissance (gen, the Liberator characters in a historical setting)
http://www.hermit.org/Blakes7/Fanzines/Judiths/Renaiss.html
I've not read this one so can't comment if it's good or bad.

Other Side of the Coin (gen, Paul Darrow aboard S2 Liberator) - Highly
Recommended! She doesn't advertise its companion "The Totally Imaginary
Cheeseboard" (gen, Avon at US B7 convention) & they do make much more sense
as a set. But IMHO "Other Side of the Coin" is by far the better (and
less-cheesy) story, with some good artwork. Get it!

Parodies Lost (mostly gen, Blake's 7 stories in the style of many famous writers)
http://www.hermit.org/Blakes7/Fanzines/OtherPubs/Parodies.html
I've not read this one so can't comment if it's good or bad.

All Change (gen, audio drama, suitable for reading aloud in a group - several
copies available to make this easier)
http://www.hermit.org/Blakes7/Fanzines/Judiths/AllChange.html
This is an EXCELLENT (except for Scene 1 where Vila is Silly Clown, not
Clever Thief - I rewrote Scene 1 for my own copy) Season4 B7 audio-play. It's
800x better than The Sevenfold Crown or Syndeton Experiment. It's what
*should* have been made into a B7 audio play. Make it so! (we wish)
Blake & Deva, as well as Avon, Vila, Tarrant, Soolin, Dayna, Orac & Slave are
all perfectly characterised. Great plotting & action.

And it has some great lines:

BLAKE: Vila! What the devil? I hope he's all right.
DEVA: I don't think I hit him too hard. He's still breathing.
ORAC: He will doubtless recover. He has a remarkably thick skull.
BLAKE: (with a touch of sarcasm) Deva, allow me to introduce Orac.
DEVA: (with the reaction you'd expect upon being introduced to a box of
flashing lights) What is it?
BLAKE: It's an extremely useful pain in the neck. Speaking of which, where's Avon?

Legacies (Travis and Jenna) by Alice C Aldridge
Hermit says: Digest size zine, single story (plus series timeline), 31,000
words. Part of the "On Wings of Eagles" series of Jenna/Travis stories, this
is the story of Travis's return to Zircaster - partly to atone for his sins,
partly to exorcise ghosts.
I've not read this one so can't comment if it's good or bad.

She also has some adult/slash for free but I don't wish to advertise
those.

I think I'd agree with the reviewer on Judith's site that the original
"Totally Imaginary Cheeseboard" is the better of the pair (although I
can see that it might be a bit too 'fannish', i.e. cheesily intense, for
some tastes. It is longer and funnier though.)

But I'd still highly recommend "Other Side of the Coin".

I see from the website that there was apparently a *third* follow-up
story, "The Cost of the Cheeseboard" -- I'd assume myself it was
probably a case of diminishing returns, I'm afraid (like the "Edge of
the World" series), but does anybody actually know anything about it?

No, I've been considering it though. It's available 2nd hand from ... never
mind. In antique lysator archives (1995) I've found one of the authors
announcing its availability & she included a short extract + blurb that's
*supposed* to make it sound appealing..... (not!)

-------- extract snippet --------

"This is Karen Breucher. I had a message to call you. If this is
about the arrangements for the next Scorpio--"

"Not exactly." The businesslike voice sounded relieved. "I've got a
person here who is most--insistent--that he needs to talk with someone
from the convention. Hang on a minute and I'll transfer you."

There was a brief pause and a few more clicks. Then a new--and
appallingly familiar--voice said, "Heather?"

"No, she's out of town. This is Karen Breucher." Karen swallowed
hard. It can't be . . . it has to be-- "Is this Paul Darrow?"

"Almost. Avon."

The room wavered slightly. "Avon. Avon. Omigod. This isn't a joke,
is it? Um, what are you doing in Schaumburg?"

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
He came for . . .
the shopping
the ice cream
and Gareth Thomas
He left with . . .
a bag of videotapes
an office temp
and a cat
And the Blake's Seven universe will never be the same again
-------- end extract snippet --------
I have to say, the extract sucks! I'm a very technical person so can't
relate to airhead females. Perhaps she (S2; real world crossover; fan on
Liberator) gets killed. That might be worth reading.
Judith Proctor diplomatically said
Still might try it.... I've read some completely dire B7 fic in my time.
It's always sort of amusing (in a surreal way) finding new lows....
