..is actually the Frank Lloyd Wright 'Ennis House', in the Griffith Park/ Los Feliz
area of Los Angeles. I had always been intrigued by the interiors of his place,
but I never dug into it at first, as there was no wide wide world o' web to facilitate a search.
But looking online last week, trying to find a Wright house in Illinois that has
been closed to the public as of last October for lack of funds, I found mention of the Ennis
and the creative usage of poured concrete pieces for the walls and ceilings.
Eventually, 2 + 2 made enough for me to be able to fill in another blank page
in what I did not know about Blade Runner. And after seeing some well lighted
pics of the interior, I am in awe of that 2 story ceiling in the entrance hall, among other things.
Kudos to the production team for procuring the permission to film such pivotal scenes there.

Sorry, Joe,

Deckard's apartment is based on the Ennis house design, yes, but they
didn't shoot inside the house. His apartment is a set on the Warner
lot. One thing you'll notice comparing the two is that the Ennis house
has very high ceilings, while the set has very low ceilings.

The only confirmed bit of film shot at the Ennis house is of Deckard
driving through the gate in the rain -- it doesn't show much.

The shot of Deckard on his balcony overlooking the city MAY have been
shot there. I've tried to compare that image to my memories of touring
the place, but can't match it up.

The house is for sale, if you've got $15 mil to throw around.

I think I've seen a production shot of that being studio based with
bluescreen etc...

Oh people, know that you have committed great sins.
If you ask me what proof I have for these words,
I say it is because I am the punishment of God.
If you had not committed great sins,
God would not have sent a punishment like me upon you.

It's certainly possible, with half the shot being a matte.
