Animenation, which has been offering anime e-mail for a few months, has
finally caved in and purchased some BGC domains. They include:

knight-sabers.com
megatokyo.org

I'm impressed... I thought they'd never get around to placing some BGC
domains there. Sadly, this means that people who were going to buy those
domains for websites will no longer be able to do so. Still, it's neat to
have them available for people to use as e-mail addresses. What better
personalized address than pr...@knight-sabers.com or ne...@megatokyo.org?
Recognizable, memorable, and interesting.

The domains may not be functioning yet, but go to http://www.animenation.com
and over the next two weeks you ought to be able to start using one or both
for an e-mail address.

Because in order to use the domain, you must OWN the domain (or a part of
it). Owning a domain is a good way to have a short, memorable URL and allows
you a more interesting e-mail address than nameof...@hotmail.com.

I was also checking BGC-related domains (.net, .org, and .com only). All the
Sylia and Linna domains are still available, two of the Nene ones are gone,
and all the Priss ones have been taken. Neither Nene domain has anything to
do with Miss Romanova, and IIRC only one of the Priss domains connects to
her in any way. One person owns both knightsabers.net and knightsabers.org
but he has no content on his site so the domains are being wasted. Someone
owns knightsabers.com but currently nothing is there at the site. Everyone
knows about tokyo2040.com, of course. But did people know that Bert Van
Vliet owns bgcrisis.com, which is the URL of his popular fanfiction series
"Bubblegum Zone?" I had no idea... Also, adpolice.com and adpolice.net have
both been purchased. Surprisingly, no one has purchased any domain using the
title "silkydoll." I was sure someone would grab onto that even if it was
not a BGC-related website. Oh, well. I've learned so much today... and
wasted a lot of time with those little domain search engines. They're so
handy.

Um, Sarah, I get the feeling you may have spoiled a surprise Bert was
working on ^_-

Anywho, good for Bert :) I remember checking for other available URLs when I
grabbed ravensgarage.com back in March, and I posted the still-available
URLs to this newsgroup, and I *think* bgcrisis.com was one of them. Hmm.

Well okay, so now we'll all have to act surprised when Bert announces his
new webpage URL alright? Everyone hide! Someone hit the lights!

No Gaza, hiding behind that lamp is not gonna work...

That hadn't occurred to me... Um, Bert, if you're reading this I'M SORRY!!!

It was available until very recently. I do these checks all the time for no
reason other than to amuse myself and throw a fit when someone takes a
domain I want (and apparently to ruin Bert's day... now I feel guilty).

>Andy Skuse (who thinks Sarah should grab www.syliamightbeaboomerdammit.com

One of the domains I was *going* to purchase at one time was reishi.com.
"Reishi" (or Lacey, depending upon which translation you've read) is the
evil version of Sylia from "Soldier Blue." A Sylia-Largo hybrid of sorts.
Then I decided I didn't want to spent the money on a domain named after a
character from such a lame story, so I didn't buy it. My current goal is
suboshi.net. *sigh* Suboshi-samaaaaaaaaaaa...

I also forgot to list ravensgarage.com even though it was one of the first
BGC domains I'd heard of... Gawd, I did a poor job with this.

And Overstreet's should be d...@megatokyo.com :)

I'll think about it.
