created solely for him. With that ego, he's not going to settle for a

The superboomer in Born To Kill had a designation number, and he was a
unique. The only nondesignated boomers were the prototype cyberdroid
in Double Vision, and that was because he came fresh from the oven and
later got destroyed, and Miriam's because they were made under the
counter.

Largo was a screw up during human-to-boomer body transfer. Nothing was
made for him, and therefore he didn't had any control over his
production, egomaniac or not. Furthermore, what if the superboomer in
Born To Kill was only a test type, dismantled after a successful run,
and the real superboomer made for actual infield application was
Largo's then unoccupied body. It makes sense. Cynthia's unassuming
appearing implies killer dolls were made for covert use. In the same
manner, Largo's body was made for covert infiltration to further
Genom's interests. Like any Genom boomer, he must have a designation
number.

I checked this up. The original dates to 1996.... There's even a
credit to Innpchan for this in the sourcebook. (page 17), I'm pretty
certain it ain't something that came from the show itself. Maybe I'm
wrong, but that's what I got when I googled it. It's actually a pretty

The only part of Largo that came from Mason was Mason's knowledge of
the inner workings of GENOM. The personality is all V7-28, right down
to the messaih complex. You really think V7-28 would allow his
personality to be corrupted by some stinking meat sack? Please, pull
the other one. All he wanted from Mason was Mason's memories. He got
them. He also got a keen superboomer body that could synch with
orbital satellites after the Knight Sabers went and trashed the fusion
body he (or some fragment of his AI) had control of last time.

Except a similar goal, V7-28 and Largo don't share many things. V7-28
is brash and callous, while Largo possesses more refined mannerisms.
And it's not V7-28's personality that got corrupted but vice versa.
The personality conflation goes to such degree that Largo, when he
remarked of remembering the view while driving the escalator, is
actually convinced that memory is his. It all reeks of a screw up,
making Largo an unwanted product set loose.
Furthermore, Largo's last line is hardly interpretable without any
reference to Mason. As a matter of fact, Mason is connected but
indirectly. I'm convinced that it signifies a connection between
*Largo* and Sylia and not Mason and Sylia. When he used pronoun "we",
it had nothing to do with Mason, as what could Mason and Sylia share
that they are "two of a kind"? The question is what joins Largo and
Sylia? There's a seemingly unbridgeable gap, an unfinished plot thread
that can't be resolved by arbitrarily declaring Sylia is a boomer.
I have my theories, but it's early to talk about them.

this is where I'll remind you that he used a terrorist group as his

supercomputer in the ADPolice manga. It takes some skills to
infiltrate a paranoid terrorist cell, especially when you're a boomer
looking to pass as human to get the job done.
They share the exact same goal; they employ the exact same brutal
methodologies : sneak around to get things done when you have to; use
brute for when you can; any casualties (human or boomer) are
unimportant so long as they further their own agenda; satellite
strikes for fun and profit.

those heights before, from orbit, TWICE. Once in the ADP graphic
novel, once when he was temporarily fused to Cynthia.

entirely comfortable trying to make a criticle interpretation of it
without being fluent in Japanese. I'm postive some things got lost in
translation.
There's any of a hundred ways to interpret what V7-28 was saying. Or
maybe, he was just trying to fuck with her to buy the time he needed
to deploy his oral cavity laser and blast her. There's also the
question of why it seems Sylia was the only one to hear him; and does
that connect somehow to the end of Moonlight Rambler where she seems
to hear Largo again.

Largo and V7-28 are incomparable characters; how you can't discern
differences in their behavior and mannerism baffles me. V7-28 is
obnoxious, dumb, impulsive, and crude. He's pathetic. He doesn't have
any charisma.

or more precise, those traits in Mason that got twisted beyond regular
human malice and immorality. He's charismatic, has elegant appearance.

can argue that V7-28 possesses those things also, but in miniscule

Your position is idiosyncratic. From where do you get the idea that
Largo is V7-28 in a new body? Innpchan doesn't even allude to this.
He's theory argues exactly what I say. I don't recall any other known
interpretation on this group.
Your flurry of question just rolls into my case. It was a bizarre
accident that lead to Largo's creation that neither Mason or V7-27
could predict or want. Neither Mason wanted V7-28 to meddle with his
artifice, nor V7-28 desired to be "corrupted with a meat-sack" as you
say. It ended as a lose-lose situation.

without any charisma would be able to lead a group of renegade boomers
that escaped Genaros. That same personality could so very easily pass
as human and infiltrate a terrorist organization. They'd find it

No. Largo has Power (with a capital P even). He has the Power that
V7-28 was seeking since the ADP Graphic Novel (the codes to fire the
orbital particle beam satellites). With that Power came a
magnification of personality traits that were already in place. Why
would there need to be a twisting of Mason's immorality and malice?
Which do you think is going to be more immoral and malicious, a human
being with some frame of reference to understand those things, or a
coldly logical machine that has just discovered sentience, religious
zeal, and for whom the concepts of morality and kindness are literally
meaningless? Largo/V7-28 has charisma, yes, but it is a superficial
sociopathic kind of charisma, the kind he has displayed from the very
beginning. His "elegant" appearance is merely a trait of his new
chassis. V7-28 has been audacious from the very beginning; or would
you say it was a timid personality that engineered a boomer escape
from Genaros? While I don't recall V7-28 being purposefully sadistic;
he certainly was a bastard, cannabalizing a pleasure model boomer for
parts, knowing full well there were some kind of 'feelings' between
her and the combat model. Wether he did this to cause the combat
model pain, or simply didn't care or understand isn't made entirely
clear in the ADP Graphic Novel (that I recall anyway, it's been a long
long long time). Though it certainly does point to a potential to
become highly sadistic. V7-28 is incredibly arrogant, remember that
Messiah Complex? And while he does not appear to display the same
overconfidence as Largo; I can only imagine how overconfident anyone
would become if they could call down pinpoint death from above at
will. Finally, V7-28 did nothing BUT manipulate those around him,
from the boomers he escaped with and promised freedom to, to the
terrorists he promised his skills and assisstance to.

Actually, the Innpchan Mason/Largo theory says precisely that V7-28
put himself into the "Largo" chassis. Where I differ from Innpchan's
theory is that I don't think any bit of Mason made it in, except his
raw memories. Everything else is V7-28.
But hey, lets not go making bold assertions without at least a little
supporting evidence.

No, my flurry of questions demonstrates that V7-28 wouldn't allow such
a thing to happen. He would have manipulated the situation to his
benefit. He would have made sure he had complete control over what
was happening and that the outcome would be precisely what he wanted
it to be. Mason was up against a superior opponent, and he lost.

The kanji for that "wakaru" is different from the "wakaru" for "to
know" (分かる), but the meaning is similar. The one here is an
intransitive verb, so something has BECOME known, something has BEEN
realized. "Doorui" means a few different things. It can mean "the
same kind," but it can also mean "accomplice" or "partner." "Watashi"
is a generic word for "I," but referring to Sylia with "omae" (one of
the words for "you") means he looks at her as someone in a slightly
lower position than himself. Still, better than "kisama," which is
what he called Priss and is somewhat of a vulgar word for "you."
Now, translating the line literally, it would go something like this:
"It has become clear to me... That you are of the same kind as I...
Because..."

Well, I don't know about people plural, but I certainly felt like
something was lost in translation.
Your literal translation with the explination throws things into a
somewhat different light for me than how I remember the scene.
It also opens up a curious path of thought in my brain.
What if it was meant not to mean they were the same kind but were
partners/accomplices, of the unwitting variety (or would that be a
different word)? What if Largo/V7-28 just had a (convieniently
dramatic) revelation about how they had both been being manipulated by
the same hand?
Plenty of room for interpretation and speculation as to what he really
meant; and why we're still talking about the series sixteen years
after the newsgroup was created. How many other animated series have
had this kind of hard-core longevity?

I want to get back to basics on this, trying to keep things simple for
now.
At the core level, what was Largo?
A boomer with BJM's mind, either mingled with VZ-28, or suffering from
a little file corruption mixed with human ambition drunk on absolute
power and immortality, it doesn't matter.
What is Sylia?
A born human, with some sort of altered brain. To the level of being
equivelant to a boomer brain without the technological barriers
blocking it?
Largo as a human mind in a boomer body.
Sylia as a boomer mind in a human body.
They're the same.... as they're the same meld of technology and
humanity, just in different directions. Equal and opposite, in a way.
Probably not, tbh.... but it was just a quick idea I thought it'd be
an interesting share anyway.
As has been said though, Largo might not be referring to being the
exact physical same. They could be pawns in someone elses game
(Quincy's?), or it may be a little more abstract. Maybe Mason/Largo is
saying that he is the path Sylia could've taken, had she done things
differently, or perhaps, Sylia is who he could've become?

Yeah, he seems to have been much worse than Failman ever was. Still,
Amanda started the forum and Craig mailed a notice via the Garage ML
shortly thereafter.
I can understand why somebody who'd been around for more than a decade
would be reluctant to leave because of just one whiny SOB, though.
And anyways, I *am* sticking around. It's just that I'm in several places

As per the ADPGN, a lowly space construction boomer with the

consciousness into Frederick in BGC Ep. 1 as evidenced by his shape-
changing abilities that we saw V728 use before in the ADPGN. As the
events of BGC Ep 1, 2 and 3 play out they eventually bring all the
pieces together and we finally get Largo who is described by Innpchan
as follows:
"However, it would appear that our old friend V7-28/Frederick is still
hanging about in the Genom net and he screws up Brian's careful plans
by corrupting Brian's file!! Therefore we get LARGO. A SuperBoomer
with the following aftermarket equipment: From Brian Mason- A
corporate shark mentality with an intimate inside knowledge of Genom,
including where all the skeletons (Like SDPC, the D.D., and the 33-Ss)
are buried AND an obsession with Sylia. From Cynthia- The all-
important USSD satellite access codes. From V7-28/Frederick- A pre-
existing link to the Genom & USSD systems, a Messiah complex that just
won't quit, and a PARTICULAR bone to pick with a certain blue
Saber..."
So, Largo broken down simply, we get:
V728: link to Genom and USSD systems, a Messiah Complex (remember when
Largo lost his arm at the end of Red Eyes he says" Human beings, how
vulgar. For the crime of injuring me, a GOD, as atonement I demand
death!" That's V728 coming through loud and clear.)
Mason: Corporate shark mentality (a part of his personality),
knowledge of Genom, an obsession with Sylia (part of his personality)
Cynthia: Black Box, USSD Satellite access codes
So why all the arguing?

Why would Mason need V7-28 to transfer his consciousness? It seems
Quincy has technology developed specifically for this action. Wouldn't
it not be better to use a method that has a human user in mind? On the
other hand, if V7-28 got access to Quincy's machinations, then he made
access, perhaps, to a blueprint for Quincy's machine. You're
absolutely right in supposing that Mason needs V7-28 at that point.
Though I have my own FANWANK to all of this.

When I read Innpchan, my impression is that Mason and V7-28 both got
the short end of the stick when Largo came into being. They both got
evaporated as persons. In a more philosophical jargon, they lost their
personal identity. You can't say "Largo is Mason tout court" or "Largo
is V7-28 tout court". They're both false statements. Mason wanted
immortality and challenge Quincy. He never did it. V7-28 wanted a new
body. While he got closer to his goal (There - is - a self-proclaimed
boomer messiah.), he'd probably be pretty angry if somebody else took
that role - Largo did it.
Here's an scenario: Two persons, A and B, unfortunately die. How it
doesn't matter. After their deaths, their bodies find themselves
together in an autopsy room. The pathologist comes, and, in a Dr.
Frankenstein mood, he concludes it's a waste of organic matter to
dispose of the brains that are intact compared to the bodies. He gets
an idea. He takes person A's left brain hemisphere and person B's
right brain hemisphere. Then, he connects them with a new corpus
callosum and transplants the new made brain into a third vacant body.
Stormy weather comes, lightning, etc., and the pathologist succeeds to
bring the human into life. Now the question is: Is that third person
person A or person B? Or a whole different person C consisting of
memories A's and B's brain halves provided?
