I was wondering whatever happened to Garry's clients, Nemesis -- Joshua and
Jacob Miller, the gay twins who had a show on Logo TV, "Nemesis Rising."
They disappeared from the Stiletto client list, and the Nemesis Rising
website no longer works. I found this info on Josh. He sure looks different
now. He was the dark headed one:

Joshua's Facebook page:

Here's Jacob's Facebook page. He was the blond:

They were one of those 'manufactured' acts- someone thought, Wow, gay
twins! What a score! Evidently their gayness didn't outsell the fact
that they were lacking on talent and they .... went poof!

I don't know how brilliant it was for them (Nemisis Rising) to be
marketed as a gay musical act. It's fine for them to be gay, but they
really needed to be marketed to the general public as new pop artists
and geared towards top 40 radio play.

I never understood that marketing plan either. If they were talented,
attractive young guys, why should it matter whether or not they're gay? Why
pigeon-hole them as only potentially appealing to the gay community? They're
talent should stand on its own and should appeal to anyone interested in
their type of music. Isn't that what fans are always saying about Barry, who
has interestingly been marketed as straight?

It is possible that TPTB thought that the novelty of "gay twins"
would supersede any other type of promotion.
Maybe it worked for a year or so, but the novelty wore off. Marvin

IMHO, the claim that he "worked with" Barry is stretching the truth,
to say the least.

I saw their series on Logo. Again, MHO, they thought that because
they were twins and they were gay, and they dyed their hair different
colors, they could skate to the top of the charts with a minimum of
effort. NO gimmick is that good. They were more interested in being
on camera and playing around than putting in the effort it takes to
build their talent and skills, as well as their equity in the
industry.

And they thought they could take that to an old-school workaholic like
Barry (whose involvement was nothing more than a publicity stunt to
begin with) and not get their bony asses handed to them.

The episode Barry appeared in should have been their wake-up call.
They get the demo Barry made; according to the aired footage, they
didn't bother rehearsing. Then they go into the studio w/ Barry at
the board and try to sing something that is no better than yours truly
singing along with the Mass on Sunday. Barry was too kind: when the
blond one sings a three-chord progression, Barry's commentary was
(paraphrasing) "That last note was OK but the first two need work."
OUCH! I'll take "death wish" for $500, Alex.

I figured it was only a matter of time before they disappeared from
Stiletto's roster and I was right. They're doing much better with
young talent that DO put in the work, like Straight No Chaser. (Love
'em!!!)

They also didn't have the advantage of having read the book "Outliers"
by Malcolm Gladwell. He talks about the Beatles and what made them
different at the time they hit it big, it was because they put in the
work. In the book, it even talks about a minimum of 10,000 hours
before you really start to go from good to great. Even Mozart, and he
was a child prodigy.

pretty much it doesn't take long for ANYONE to disappear from Stiletto's
roster for some reason...except of course for Manilow that is...think there
may be some connection there? lol

If you watched the whole series, then you would know that they weren't
all that sure about being billed as a "gay" act. How do you know this
wasn't Garry's brainstorm to begin with? He was their manager, did
get them a record deal and set up the recording session with Barry who
chose a song for them to record, which he produced (again, not an idea
they were sure was a good thing given the song he chose for them).
I wouldn't be too quick to assume that they weren't talented (I
thought they were) and if they left the management company, what makes
you think that it wasn't their idea to leave? Afterall, it's up to
their management to make sure their record gets played on the radio
and it didn't.

Just because Barry shows up at a recording studio for a couple of
up and comers won't help the newbies career one way or another.
I'm just guessing here, but I don't think the young crowd would be
all impressed with Barry coming to the recording studio, now, if it
were some young, happening stars came by maybe it could have
generated more interest. A song picked and produced by an old
fellow wouldn't generate the same buzz as if by BabyFace. Barry's
music and styling is just too old for younger people to pull off.
