Barry is Back! Performances of Manilow on Broadway Expected to Resume on January 23

Music legend Barry Manilow has been given the go-ahead by doctors to resume performances of Manilow on Broadway, after cancelling the January 22 performance due to bronchitis. The cancelled show has been rescheduled for February 26, and the concert series is still set to officially open on January 24. The concert engagement will play through February 23 at the St. James Theatre, with the rescheduled concert to follow three days later.

Manilow (a.k.a. “The Man Who Makes the Whole World Sing”) earned a 1977 Special Tony Award for his Broadway show, Barry Manilow on Broadway. The Grammy winner’s pop hits include “Could It Be Magic,” “Mandy,” “Copacabana” and “Can’t Smile Without You.” He has sold over 80 million albums worldwide and has had 49 Top 40 hits.

Although critics had been invited to the January 23 preview performance, press tickets have been canceled and will be rescheduled for a later date.

Manilow must be glad to greet his eager fans once again, so watch him sing "Can't Smile Without You" below!

So much for accuracy in the press. Despite this article just being released, the fans are reporting that tonight's show has been rescheduled for February 27th!

Barry, I hope you feel better quickly. Suffering with bronchitis is miserable.

I got the flu and bronchitis on Dec. 21st - and I'm finally getting the green light by my doctor allowing me to be around infants, elderly people and expectant mothers. I couldn't leave home with the flu, I'm finally getting over the bronchitis. I hope he gets better soon. The levaquin worked perfectly and got the bronchitis taken care of quickly.

I'm glad to hear you are feeling better, Dawn.

If I had to find some bright spot in all this, it's that Barry has certainly received a lot of press and publicity this week. Between tv appearances, the street sign, the press conference, and numerous articles on his cancellations, bronchitis, and plans for the official opening, I imagine everyone in NYC is aware that he's performing at the St. James!

How does this reporter like his crow - baked, fried or bbq'd? Shame on him/her for jumping the gun. JW

I just searched and the original article has been pulled, although the title still shows up in a google search. I didn't post the later article entitled "Barry Manilow axes second Broadway gig" as it didn't contribute any info we didn't already know.

The New York Daily News is also reporting that the rest of this weeks
shows are being rescheduled. I thought this line was interesting since
I don't recall Barry doing any interviews yesterday. Katie Couric which
he was on yesterday was taped last week.
New York Daily News. Snip to "He was doing interviews all day and now
he's sick snarled Bunny Bursky a Fanilow left out in the cold."

Wow, how selfish can a person be? (Don't answer that....)

This must be such disappointing news for everyone involved, especially Barry. However, I think they are making the right decision to cancel several shows at once and give him a chance to fully recover. I can easily imagine Barry trying to push himself too soon.
