To the tune of "Born in the USA"
Stopped by just to check it out
But for some the Barrynet is just too hot to touch
You'll be banned without warning if you say too much
Mr. Oye spends half his time just cleaning it up
Banned from the Barrynet, I was banned from the Barrynet
I was banned from the Barrynet, banned from the Barrynet
Then the day came along when my ass got chewed
Because Barry had the balls to be really rude
To a fan at a concert sitting in front row
With a "Can't Smile" sign at the Birmingham show
Banned from the Barrynet....
She finally left the show with her friends in tears
I made the mistake of posting it there
Next day I got a note from this unhappy fan
She said, "Bren, sure am glad you understand"
But then that same day I got a hate letter from
A Bnet regular vowing she'd see me gone
She's no longer there ... but the damage was done
I have a friend who posted Harmony news
But they said she jumped the gun and started singing the blues
So then they chose to take her access away
But no matter what they do we'll always have our say
Those who've been banned just post here instead
And we can't be censored so they're seeing red ...
Banned from the Barrynet..
(we were) Banned from the Barrynet...
Don't ya dare post things that make Barry upset
(or you'll get) Banned from the Barrynet

Brenda,
You're very clever! I have a question about the person who was banned for
posting about Barry being rude to someone in the front row with a CSWY
sign.
When we saw him in 1999 at Blossom, we were in the 8th row. Two women in
the front row, which was right up against the stage, were holding generic
signs during every song and standing up until Barry said to them to please
put down the signs, they're distracting.
Why would a similar story ban someone from the Barrynet? Do you know?
Thanks!
Deidre
The girl Barry scolded was not standing up and was not holding the sign
up. She was sitting in the front row and had the sign ON THE GROUND
against her knees. It was a sign she planned to hold up later for
"Can't Smile."
Anyway, it still caught Barry's eye and he made a point of looking down
at her and saying, "Put that away - we're not doing that anymore." In
her email to me, the fan said it was the tone of his voice .. rather
than the words ... that hurt the most. It had been one of her dreams
to have the chance to talk to Barry (or have him talk to her), so you
can imagine how unhappy she was that her one opportunity to interact
with him was ... this.
She was also humiliated because she had gone to the show with something
like 25 co-workers, friends and family members who witnessed what
happened.
What's worse ... when she signed onto the BNet the next day, she found
fans ("nice" Barrynet-approved fanilows) badmouthing her ...accusing
her of deserving what he'd done ... and, in general, acting like total
asses. This woman deserved compassion ... instead, she was pissed on,
to put it bluntly.
I was banned because several fans (regular posters there at the time -
they no longer post there) got together and complained to Gary Oye that
I was complaining about the way Barry had treated her. To his credit,
Garry Kief later offered to reinstate my access, but I declined the
offer.

Thanks for explaining all the banishment issues. Unbelievable!

Really Clever message!! I was banned in December just for commenting on
a answer Barry gave in the last Barry Gram about fantasizing about him.
He said that he does'nt like it when fans do that. Thinking that they
have a relationship with Barry when they don't. I can relate to the
abusive comments fans make when your trying to get your point accross
on the B-Net. The people there abuse you when your comments or opinions
about Barry don't match thier own. They complain to Gary about it, and
in turn he removes the person. It burns me up that Gary stands by what
the complainer says instead of what the other person's story. I keep my
opinions to myself now. We are entitled to our opinions in this country
last I checked it was a free country to express them. We don't always
have to agree on each other's opinions, but we have a right to express
them without reprisal or abuse from someone else. But alas, that is not
the way on the B-Net unfourtnately. I am sure it was a lurker who
does'nt have nothing better with his or her time then to "police" the
B-Net when it should be better moderated by Gary or Barry's management.
So, your message expresses my feelings on that subject. I checked the
B-Net once in a while and there are people alot worser and abusive than
I was who are still on there and need to be banned. I just wish that it
was better regulated. Then there would'nt all this nonsense going
around. But, that's just my opinion. :-) Take care guys. Later Mary
I don't think TPTB fully understand how hurtful it is when they ban
people without warning.
Removing posts that are objectionable ... that I can understand. Even
sending warnings to fans about the types of posts they're writing is
fine. The guidelines on the website are not explicit enough to give
fans - especially new fans - any real idea of what is or isn't allowed
to be posted. Fans calling themselves "Mrs. Manilow" is okay .. but a
fan saying, "I wish Barry hadn't said or done so-and-so" isn't? We're
not mind-readers. It would help, for future BNet posters, if TPTB
would be more specific with the do's and the don'ts and, where there
are violations, give them some fair warning.
