You know, my hometown gets a lot of abuse ... Most of it undeserved.

Yes, we are usually blessed by crappy winters and even crappier sports teams. And yes, it's true, our Cuyahoga River caught on fire back in the 70s because it was so polluted (mercifully, that's not the case anymore).

But this is a really great city with great people and a lot to offer. Tourists come from all over the world to see the Rock 'n Hall of Fame and the Christmas Story House. Our downtown has a new casino and will soon have a new medical mart. Everyone living here knows our best days are still ahead.

But Cleveland may never know a finer day than yesterday ... When three young women, all kidnapped separately, missing for 10+ years and presumed dead by many, were found alive.

What a blessing. What a miracle. You can't imagine the joy lighting up the city on this gorgeous spring day! It's all any of us can talk about.

(The fury and outrage will come later.)

But for now, we're just giving thanks.
Praise God for His divine mercy.

It is a blessing from G-d for all three women to be found alive. Hopefully, their good health will be restored and in time justice will prevail. Thanks for sharing your post Brenda. Marvin

It is truely a blessing that these 3 women got their freedom. How brave of the one that pleaded for help after being imprisoned against their will for so long. Now is a time for them and their families to enjoy their reunions but they will need help to overcome what they have been through. I know Dr. Phil is really good with helping people overcome this sort of trauma and I hope he will help. In the end these 3 women will be needing help. I have a feeling he may be there for them. :O)

If you need a good laugh, do head over to YouTube and check out the Charles Ramsey interviews (he's the neighbor who helped Amanda escape from the house). You can't get more "real" than this guy! Cleveland loves him!

I think everyone loves him! He really is quite a character.

Now others are trying to say they arrived first, but it doesn't matter. The important thing is that the nightmare has ended for those poor women, and hopefully the healing can begin for them and their families.

Truthfully, I don't think the nightmare will ever be over for them. They endured horrors you CAN'T get over. I cringe with every new, disgusting detail that comes crawling out of the slime...and I think, how could someone endure that kind of suffering for even a day or a week? And they lived like this for a DECADE. I can't seem to wrap my mind around it.

But at least they're finally back out in the sunshine and surrounded by friends, family and millions of strangers who love and care.

I had read something written by a psychologist on this that made lots of sense.

Our bodies are built to survive. Those women were in complete survival mode. While they were being tortured, they also had food and shelter so they looked to that animal as someone who took care of them. I'm sure there were many lucid moments, but to survive they had to use their internal coping mechanisms to go on each day.

It is a true miracle that they were found. Just like Jaycee Duggard a couple of years ago. I'm sure they will all end up meeting up to help each other.

I wish it would be mandatory castration for this twisted individual. He is obviously sick in the head if he could lead a double life like he did. His poor family is so embarrassed but he had to have been showing signs and his brothers didn't know what he was doing???? I can't believe that!

I'm glad the women are safe now but their lives will never be the same as they were before all this happened. I hope all works out well for them. JW
