I get what you're saying ...
I think it goes without saying, however, that physical limitations exist, and some can't be overcome. You're totally right about that ... although I never fail to be blown away by the amazing things some people have accomplished in spite of terrible obstacles (cancer, missing limbs, you name it).
What I'm talking about is the cushy "I haven't the time" trap we all fall into.
For example ... If you were to ask me, "Brenda, why haven't you been updating your blog," I might be tempted to answer, "I have been SO busy." And people who know me wouldn't likely challenge that. BUT ... that's an excuse, not a reason. Usually reasons tend to be embarrassing, so we give excuses. I can make time to type these words...right? :-)
That's what I mean.
Just recently a person I've considered to be a good friend stood me up ... for the umpteenth millionth time ...when she was in town on business. She's always too busy...or sick...or there was an earthquake, fire, locusts, you name it, it's like John Belushi in "The Blues Brothers." She's always got a "reason." In every other respect, she's the best friend in the world, and I don't know what I would have done without her these many years. But sometimes, when I'm hearing yet another excuse, I think oh man, stop with the bullshit excuses already and give me a reason I can believe! (It hasn't happened yet, but I'm eternally hopeful!)
Isn't that "let's cut through the BS" conversation one we often need to have with ourselves?
Barry's right when he says, in his show, that Life isn't a dress rehearsal ... we all have so little time to figure out what matters the most in our lives and just GO for it. And there's definitely no time for bullshit.
Cheers,
Brenda
