New Backup Singers?

Has there been any buzz about 2 new backup singers?
One of the B-nutters wrote a review of last night-No Melanie and
Monica?
Can anyone confirm this or shed a light?

He used to always introduce all his singers and band members. Does he no
longer do that?

I've only seen him one time in the last 20 years, and that was back in
August. I can't remember if he introduced them or not as part of his
show.

I last saw him in Feb. 2008 in Dallas, and I don't think he introduced them
in that show. But I honestly can't remember. Very different from so many
shows I saw in the 80s and 90s where he introduced just about everyone on
stage.

I don't know- but from Keely's tweets it seems like she's back in
Chicago.. to stay- or so it seems? I know she was working on some
sort of music project with another lesser known singer- I can't
remember what it was, but I'm under the impression she might not be
with him anymore?

Yes, but she also does some sort of other show too- I can't think of
what it was, but it was something in Vegas I think- just because she's
singing doesn't mean she's warbling with Barry- as I said in an
earlier post, she tweeted that she was amazed at the amount of stuff
from her Vegas stay that she had to 'pack up and move' - so thats why
I'm wondering if she is going in another direction.

Maybe Monica decided she's had enough of Vegas, but as for Melanie it
seems she's been hired as a backup singer by John Mayer according to
someone on the network. I wish them both luck in either case as
they're both very nice women and I had a lovely conversation with
Monica during one of the after parties in Quark's during my first
convention.

Seems the new kids on the block are Melanie Nyema and Shay Best- never
heard of either girl. I also wonder what happened to the old gang.

I don't know what they'll be doing now. But Monica Burruss was a member of
Lady Flash way back in 1975/76 along with Debra Byrd and Reparata (Lorraine
Mazzola). I think Muffy Hendrix replaced her in 1978, and Monica returned
recently (2004?) as a backup singer for Barry.
I'm sure most everyone knows this, but in case there are some newbies
reading, Lady Flash's one album was "Beauties in the Night," released in
1976. Barry wrote, sang, and played piano on many of the songs, and produced
the album, along with Ron Dante. It's a really nice album. One interesting
fact is that they airbrushed Debra's middle to make her appear smaller on the
front cover, but not in the photos on the back. Duh. Here's more info on

They also released a single which included "Hypnotizin'" (written by Barry
and Enoch Anderson, who I believe is co-writing Barry's "Fifteen Minutes"
songs) and "Street Singin'" written by Barry and Adrienne Anderson.
Monica was also a member of Dante's Inferno, a disco group around 1979, with
Ron, Monica, and Toni Lund. They recorded an album, "Dante's Inferno," which
included a cover of "Could It Be Magic." It's a pretty good album. You can

out her followers. Me thinks her audience is going to get a lot
bigger before too long. :o)

I don't think any of his fans should be surprised that he changes his
shows. I would think given the fact that he's moved to another venue,
he would have to change things up quite a bit because what would be
the reason to follow him to the Paris if he didn't, especially given
the astronomical pricing.
