Posted after last night's show. Think Melanie might need a rabies shot?

after tonight's show, a fan DEFINITELY just caught me, raved about my
ferocity, took my hand as if to kiss it, but bit my knuckles instead.

Welcome to BarryWorld, Melanie. And all the craziness that goes with
it. Get your shots and don't hang out without at least one guy from
the security team.

I'm suprised there hasn't been a rule made that they don't socialize
with the fans, just in case they run across THAT ONE WEIRDO who makes
their lives into a Lifetime Movie of the Week. Sad, but necessary.

If a fan has tattoos of Barry put on their body, is that considered
normal or over the top? I have my opinion, but I thought I'd
ask. :o)

To be perfectly honest, I think any tattoo is stupid. I simply don't get
body art. These sports guys in football and basketball who are literally
covered with ink, just amaze me, and not in a good way.

As for Barry fans getting Barry tattoos, just remember how many fans have
"gone away." If they have a great big "One Voice" tat on their calf, they
might regret that at a later time. I wonder about that bozo who had Barry
autograph her breast during her Platinum, then went to a tattoo parlor and
had it permanently put there.

So to answer your question, I think it's totally over the top.

Here are some newsgroup posts that were made back in October 2004 when it
happened. This gal asked him to sign her "upper chest" and then
miraculously got picked for CSWY. Barry evidently was not happy.

....
Apparently Lisa, during her Platinum experience, asked Barry to autograph
one of her body parts.

Then she went to a tattoo artist the next day to have the signature traced
into something more permanent. I guess she was showing it off while on
line at the View yesterday.

Oh boy. One of those fans that makes ya proud, you know?
....
I had heard that Lisa (last night's CS lady) had just met Barry backstage
during a Platinum moment a night or two before...
....
Barry didn't seem very happy to have her up there...she was wearing a
spangly Manilow shirt and earrings with his face on them. She went to show
him what else she had on (a watch, I believe) and he said he didn't want
to see any more.
....
No one in my section knew that she had met him before. We were appalled at
her attire and attitude...very low class. Last night was my last chance at
being a CSWY girl.<sigh> 27 years and 0 duets.
....
"She said there was definitely something wrong during Can't Smile and she
knew it. This lady came up on stage and had a shirt with MANILOW across
her chest in sparkles (they were selling them there) and he commented that
she had his name on her chest and his face on her earrings. During the
duet, they really didn't dance and there was no kiss and no jumping up on
the piano and putting her between his legs. He seemed like he couldn't
wait to get her off of the stage and he didn't look for her to point and
say "I just can't smile without you" at the end."

I guess we'll never know why Barry gave this girl the cold shoulder. Did
he think he remembered her from being a Can't Smile repeater, rather than
a Platinum person----or did he remember that she asked him to sign her
boob and was afraid she'd pull it out on stage?!?
....
We were at MSG last night. You could tell Barry definitely
was not enthused with the lady. He went through the song quickly and
escorted her off the stage. I could sense something was not
right......NOW I know WHAT!
....
I think Barry remembered her as the Platinum person who asked that he sign
a body part, because when he saw her shirt and his face on her ewarrings,
he said "I don't want to see anymore," turned his head around and walked a
step or two away. He did not seem happy to have her up there.
....
OK, I haven't finished reading this thread yet, and I never saw the
initial post, but you guys seem to be chastising the gal with the tattoo.

Well, if it is the lady I am thinking of, she and I were escorted to our
seats together. I simply won't share what she said to me, as it was a
private conversation. However, I will say that she was VERY NICE! And
she showed us where Barry signed her body, and it seemed very tastefully
done on her upper chest, not her boob.

OK, we all know my m*emory wasn't the greatest after I saw Barry, and she
went in after me, but I feel like I have to throw in my 2 cents.

That having been said, I did retire my CSWY sign after the platinum
package. It is only fair. And had I known what I was in for, I wouldn't
have tried the night before with a sign. I admit, I raised my hand on the
night of the platinum ticket, but the devil made me do it, what with 20
years of waiting. But I did not bring my sign.

Will the blazon biter be banned? Meanwhile, mulling over the
monogrammed mammary-glanded Maniloonie maniac and Manilow management's
mindful measure of what a menace might be?

Seriously? A "One star ranking" for creative use of alliteration? Do
you truly not have a sense of humor? Lighten up "oh protector of all
things dysfunctional in Manilowdom". ;-)

I personally thought the multitude of "m" words was most magnificent.

BTW, is it just my browser (Firefox 3.6.3), because most of the time if I go
to the Google Groups site to read the ng, the stars are there, then they're
not, then they're there again. Maybe it's haunted? Eeek!

You are right. Just can't see taking this all so seriously that one
has to patrol and designate single stars -- not for comments or
content, but for personal attacks.

Bless your heart. I'm appreciating your alliteration too. :-)

I'm on Safari too and noticed that too. Sometimes stars show up,
sometimes they don't -- sometimes the rankings vary, It's not a very
reliable system. I usually ignore them too -- just had to pause and
cock my head on the attack though. Maybe they are pro biter or pro
tattoo or just think rabid fans are hunky-dory? It's just odd.

Oh well.

I think they're just con newsgroup.

LOL. Yes, that makes so much sense! It doesn't matter how ridiculous
a BITER is, or how a BITER or crazed fan asking Mr. M to sign her
chest so she can tattoo the signature is -- when the unmoderated
newsgroup or honest dialogue is evil. Ay, yi, yi.

Gotta laugh, I guess. :-)
