Barry's mother?

Hi all! I was watching the special on A&E and someone mentioned Barry's
mom. Then Barry started to mention that his mom passed away. Does anyone
know when his mom died and did she die from cancer? He always made
mention of his mom in concerts and how close they are. He must be
devastated. Thanks in advance for your help.

Sarah:

Barry's mother, Edna Manilow, passed away in Florida in September of 1995.
She died from emphysema. His Aunt Rose (Edna's Sister), passed away in
December of 1995 as well.

terrible tragedy to loose both mother and aunt. Thanks you again.

Not that I'm questioning the accuracy of this bit of information... but,
his mother's name wouldn't be Manilow, would it? I mean, isn't his birth
name Barthamew (sp?) Pinchus??? Just curious...

Barry was born Barry Alan Pincus. Barry decided to change his last name
when he was 13 to Manilow since that was his mother's maiden name.
Barry's parents were divorced when he was very little & he had no contact
with his father, so feel comfortable keeping his name.

Jenny, Barry was born Barry Allen Pincus. When he turned thirteen, his
mother remarried and he had his name legally changed to Barry Manilow.
Manilow is his mother's maiden name and his stepfather's name was Willie
Murphy.
