Sorry if this is incorrect or old news to anyone. I just read this on People

• STREISAND'S NEW FEAR

Barbra Streisand reportedly is afraid of getting bitten by the Y2K bug. New
York's Daily News says that Streisand has decided not to perform at New York's
Madison Square Garden on New Year's Eve 1999 -- partially because of concerns
about how computers will handle the switch to the year 2000. Quoting Streisand
sources, the News said she may go for a millennium concert at the MGM Grand in
Las Vegas -- where she performed twice in 1994 -- because "the room is more
familiar to her, and it's closer to her home in Los Angeles." The source said
Streisand wants to do "as little traveling as possible" around the millennium
change, because "she has a lot of fear" about what the Y2K change will do to
computers. The News said the Rolling Stones might take the New Year's Eve 1999
date in the Garden.

I've heard this before. There may be some truth in it, but I think the
tremendous amount of money Kirk Kerkorian of the MGM Grand is reportedly
offering, as well as her past relationship with him, has even more to do with
it. It does seem pretty likely that the Rolling Stones will be at the Garden.
I've also heard that the Judds will be doing their reunion concert that night,
in Phoenix. $300 a ticket. (Not bad, $150 per Judd). :) By the way, speaking
of the Y2K bug, check out your appliances. I tried progamming "00" on my VCR,
and it wouldn't take it. After December 1999, my VCR is toast. Bummer!

Hi Carm!
Thanks for the tip about checking the "real date" capability of my VCR!
Touching base later,

If Barbra has this fear, it is perfectly understandable -- and sensible.
There is still no word on how airlines/airports will handle the problem,
and remaining stranded somewhere on Jan 1 2000 is a realistic possibility
for all travelers. What is not sensible is the number of people who are
assuming the problem will be resolved by then.

Wolverine returns, still vigorous and razor-clawed, but in the throes of an existential crisis.
The Wolverine (* * 1/2 our of four; rated PG-13; opens Thursday in some theaters and Friday nationwide) features some powerful action scenes juxtaposed with sequences in which Hugh Jackman's character re-lives his past and ponders his future. Initially, the century-old Logan/Wolverine is disaffected and reluctant to return to his life as a mutant hero. Created as a super weapon, he has come to fear that his powers make him a danger to society.

But in short order, he's fighting ninjas and using his famous adamantium claws against thugs atop a speeding bullet train. And that, after all, is what audiences come for
