Anyway, I love the Albedo series, as well. I'm just having a hard time
keeping up, since I rarely have the opportunity to go to a comic shop
to pick up the latest issue. An additional complication is the apparent
multiple series that are going on, but maybe you can clear that up for me
a bit :-)
I just bought the games (RPGs) recently, but haven't had much of a
chance to play them, just looked at the manuals. Was idly thinking of
porting it to a PC game, but my networking skills aren't quite up
to par yet. Besides, I tend to play tactical games more, as opposed
to RPG's.
Anyway, post away! :-)

So I love Albedo, I think Steve Gallacci is the best. His style of
writing and drawing blow me away. I try to copy his style a little bit
but I still need some work. I've been collecting Albedo ever since I
found an issue in the discount comic bin, and when I read it I fell in
love with it immediately.
Does anybody else out there share my interest? I would love to hear from
you if you do!

honestly steve is smart enough not to help this situation too much either.
I've suggested setting up an albedo web page, and he'd have to do nothing
for it, but give his blessing... however, he also doesn't want things
copied out from the site, and there isnt any way to protect things (art
mostly)... so no go. And I'm sure he's got better things to do than answer
fan questions all day..
ah well.
if you're confused though heres the Big Chart. Keep in mind that albedo
comes out on a slow calendar. generally 2 or 3 issues a year... so keeping
up isnt a problem. noticing is a problem ;) Also, this chart assumes that
you're into albedo for the Erma Felna EDF stories, not the backups (which
are often quite good. Usagi Yojimbo, Space Wolf, High Orbit, Beatrix
Farmer, konny and czu...)
V0N0 The prototype issue which has undergone a number of reprints, which steve
is pretty damn good about documenting.
Contains some Erma sketches, including the really early stuff, and a
bit of
the early Derzon story.
V1N1 _Opening_Moves_
Introduces Erma, Tavas and has the invasion of Derzon. Erma gets shot down
from her aerodyne, then shot on the ground. D'oh!
V1N2 Erma recouperates, we learn of the "anti-feminists" in the EDF. Erma
transferred to Ekosiak, meets Sec. Shatoo and Dea. Also meets Col. Hitzok,
who doesn't especially like Erma.
V1N3 Erma tours the base, and gets a bad name in the press (and with Col.
Hitzok). FORESHADOWING :) Then its off to Chishata system and the DH270,
commanded by Itzak. Many rabbits on Refinery Station KN382 kill the
workers, and nuke it, after leaving. Somebody (not necessarily the same
bunch of rabbits) battles the DH270, we see a space battle, 7 days later,
which the DH270 survives, although at one member of the crew is
killed, and
two are in sickbay. The other ship is killed.
V1N4 Erma gets a letter from home, the EDF gets bad PR on Ekosiak, after
Derzon,
and Itzak talks to the net, which is introduced. The second badguy
ship in
Chishata tries to jump, but is destroyed, not making its jump minimum
(they
were at 50%, the fools). the DH270 rescue team (dispatched in V1N3)
arrives
at one of the stations. One of the two searchers is killed by a booby
trap,
the robot drone is destroyed by another, and it turns out that the station
crew have been hooked up to emergency life support packs. The packs,
besides being dangerous to begin with, are rigged to slowly destroy brain
functions... Itzak and the net conclude its the ILR.
V1N5 EDF High Command on Fantur (not Arras Charka?) is aware that they're in
deep shit. On Dornthant II, Eda Felna (Erma's mother) and Itzak's mother
talk about their respective kids. Both dislike not knowing whats going on
with their children, hearkening back to their husbands. Erma attends some
sort of ball at the Government House, Ekosiak. Col. Hitzok meets Dea.
Erma
meets Lazlow Kosak, an annoying reporter, who's chased off by the
Col.
Later, on a newscast, Lazlow continues the unfavorable pr on erma.
Also, a
small, terrorist nuclear weapon is planted in town. Erma, in the
flight
sim, is alerted, and she comes up with steve's great idea of how to
disarm
nuclear weapons. They shoot it. Which works. Erma, aware of the bad
rep of
the EDF and Confed locally, refuses any mention that it was her idea,
or
that she was involved. Erma has a conversation, and makes more of a
friend
with the Col. than before. There's a riot at the base, and although
the
rioters are dispersed,
the Col. gets shot.
V1N6 The Col. is in the hospital, Erma looks scruffy (actually a good look for
her :), and in flight class, Erma decides not to run training, but
discusses what she did during a terrorist action on Danet... cool
flashback
involving a suicidal terrorist mouse, a tall building, big gun and an
aerodyne. Erma relates important advice, and we note, is being
monitored...
hmm..
V1N7 Investegation reveals the nuke was a fake. and the investegators
discover
that theres already monitoring programs in place. Dea and Erma have a
talk
about security, both being Dornthantii. And note that they're being
watched. Erma accidently kills the spy, which doesn't help her pr much.
DH270 is relieved, and leaves the Chishata system. Half the crew is
dead or
severely injured after trying to revive the miners insystem. All the
miners
basically died. Also, news of Chishata arrives at Ekosiak. I love the
news
guys. We see Aito, but nothing about him yet. A bar erupts into chaos
over
suspected EDF sympathizers. An assasin tries to kill Dea.
V1N8 At the base, Erma and the Major discuss the situation. Dea has been the
victim of an attempt, but is okay. Sec. Shatoo is missing, but it looks
like he left. The Major is still in the hospital, and assassinations are
going on. Sec. Shatoo, meanwhile, is doing some wet work. citizens
severely
beat up some home guard members. Lazlow is coming up to his deadline
for
broadcast, and still working on a story. A bear gives lazlow some
info...
lazlow decides that it's not runnable. The bear kills lazlow, and
blames it
on Dea. rioters are massing all over the damn place. Things are going
nuts,
and Erma cant react appropriately; the cultures are too different
(concussion grenades are a bad solution :) Sec. Shatoo meets Aito. They
discuss things... and it turns out that Aito was responsible. He wanted to
destroy the Ekosiak govt, so that he could put it together in the way he
wanted. Chishata forced him to rush things... And Sec. Shatoo needs to put
an end to this. He kills Aito, and dumps all of Aito's secret info on the
net. The news guys see the info (love the news guys!) The riots begin to
stop, as some rioters kill others, who they think are sympathizers.
Reinforcements arrive... and everything begins to get back to normal.
V1N9 A wierd confrontation on a station near Ekosiak. Hard to tell just what's
going on... The Col. is back, Shatoo promotes Dea, and turns himself in to
Erma. Erma is going to be escorting Shatoo back towards Central, and then
be reassigned.
V1N10Shatoo and Erma talk, and Shatoo reveals the Net to Erma. We hear about
Tavas having gotten quite a bit of power, despite the net, and Erma's
brother Tasak not getting into the EDF, due to his psych profile. Eda,
Tasak, Joeseph (Itzak's father) and Kanoc (Erma's father) are at the Felna
home on Dornthant II... we see Kanoc's condition... not pretty. Also Tasak
is pissed he didn't get into the EDF. Eda is glad. DH270 arrives at Aeleta
station, Aeostah system. Itzak thinks that the ILR had nothing to do with
Chishata now, that it was outworld seperatists (like Aito). Other EDF
decide to give him a bad psych review, to maintain relations with the
outworlds, and discredit Itzak. The net warns Itzak, who attempts to have
additional data tacked on, and then try to get to Dornthant as fast as
possible, instead of sticking to the preexisting schedule. In the ILR, we
see that maybe they did do Chishata (its hinted at), and that they didn't
do anything with Ekosiak, and are now beginning to wait for the EDF
to tear
itself apart. On the ship, Erma is in a discussion over security, and she
supports the charter permitting worlds to decide things for themselves.
V1N11In Ahnomia system, Shatoo is turned over to confed security, and Erma
waits
for orders. Then we meet Toki, an old friend of Erma's from the academy
(also a pilot) Toki tells Erma that they've been assigned together to the
Squad Commander post in Ahahn-tako system. Erma will fly, Toki do desk
work. They're looking to waste some time (toki is anyhow :) and go to a
concert; which is quite different from ours. Itzak is on the Koshi Akoi,
for Dornthant, with no chance of beating his report there either. And a
terrorist starts some shooting on the Koshata-Ti, bound for Ahnomia. Toki
and Erma review info on the civil war in the Ahahn-tako system.. that
night, while on approach to Ish-Tako, incoming ACVs are detected, and the
ship prepares for the attack. A number of crew are killed, and the ship
loses its aft tanks and drives. They're adrift, and awaiting
assistance. In
700 hours :)
V1N12"The floating stuff issue". really, it says that on the cover. Toki's been
considering having a kid, and staying on Ish-Tako...After a while the
DH284
arrives, and everyone transfers over to it. Also they all have to readjust
to accelleration again. While going further insystem the ship detects a
derelict. A possible "Creator" derelict... which is instantly under
lots of
security. A month later, we meet Dr. Kalakahaii, a xenologist. The dr.
wants to go slowly, by the protocols. Several of the EDF want to move
faster. The commander decides to slow down, after an initial survey. The
dr. decides to send a person and robot in for an initial survey. And she
goes in ;).
V1N13Everyone is discussing the derelict. It turns out that alot of their tech
is almost the same as the furry's tech... in some cases exactly the same.
They also figure out that we share the same meter, although we're base10,
and they're base8. On another incursion into the ship, the doc finds
a door
keypad (which she CANT possibly decide is 10 digit, as it has 12 keys.
D'oh!), some generic stuff like combs and spoons, and a book! She then
finds a control area, and notes that the seats are bigger, but
similar. And
she finds a female human, dead at some controls. further analysis
continues. And the net informs erma that the drive system is a total
conversion system, which could be used as a weapon, since it can become a
runaway reaction... destroying alot of stuff. Also it informs her
about the
human... and that the furrys are pretty certainly descended from them.
V1N14Itzak is stuck on Keptsuah, having totally lost the psych report. He
and we
meet Alliusiz, Kanoc's former aide. Who warns Itzak that he has a mental
talent. He knew that Kanoc was fully competent when he crashed an
aerodyne,
but that he couldn't reveal his talent, especially in light of all the
politicking going on. He disappeared, as his talent works on computers as
well as people. In short though, he's detected the Net, and that it takes
an interest in Itzak. After he leaves, Itzak and the Net discuss
this... On
Ish-Tako, Erma and Toki are running through some tests with local
equipment. Then they go shopping, at toki's instigation, get some clothes,
talk about stress, being social, and then Erma pulls a gun on a guy who
looked like he was going to draw, but in fact had a handgun-shaped
videocam. Fast on the trigger. While talking about it, Erma tells Toki
about Derzon, and they meet Afon, an EDF instructor, who they both know
from the academy. And toki realizes that Erma likes afon... heh
V2N1 FIRST ANARCTIC PRESS ISSUE!
The ILR begins to gear up. Itzak runs into Anwah, a member of his crew.
Members of his crew are all heading towards Arras Chaka for reassignment,
and psych hygiene. Itzak reveals that a faction on Aelata who are doing
this to them, for their own reasons... related to Chashata. And as
the ship
is just cruising for a while, the net decides to spice up Itzak's social
life... four female horses show up... heh. Toki talks to Erma about erma's
upcoming 10day break with Afon... Tasak shows up at home, Eda tells Kanoc,
who begins to have another fit. No wonder Eda's so damn bitter. Erma and
Afon on R&R. The doc is en route to her home on Endly, arrives, meets her
brother(? So hard to tell what with Endly/Enchawa fashion... I thought
Kalakahaii was male for quite a while too) And she doesn't talk about the
creator find. And Alliusiz arrives on Ish-Tako.
V2N2 Erma has some dreams, including things that happened to her father, before
she was born. she goes for a med checkup, since they're especially vivid,
and finds out that she's pregnant.thanks to afon. :) She and Toki have a
fight, she tells Afon, whos a little noncommital... and at Dornthant,
Tavas
has gotten a juicy position. Funny how we're just now hearing about him
again, hm. And he still harbors resentment towards Erma, for not skipping
out from Derzon with him. at the ILR, they've come up with a new form of
weapon for use against planets, and it turns out, from our first look at
ILR family life, that the "bad guys" are the most like typical americans.
Erma looks into a care group, and back on Ekosiak, the Col. finds out that
special services, a person named Dana, and he are all working against each
other a bit. SS has a bad habit of having dead "escapees" aparently. He
goes over it at home with Dea ;) who remembers them having
connections with
Aito. And between this and other things, the Net informs Shatoo, who's
under house arrest on Arras Chaka, that there seems to be a link between
the Aito conspiracy and the outer EDF commands. This is VERY bad. Erma has
more of her father's dreams. Itzak arrives near Arras Chaka, and is also
told of the connection between EDF Intel, Aito, Ekosiak and Chashata. But
theres still 350 hours till the ship arrives, and at least three of those
female horses still around :) And Toki makes up with erma.
V2N3 The revolution in the Ahan-Tako system is finally clearing up. Afon is
injured, and he, Erma and Toki have a talk about the coming kid.
(E: "And these people have experience with kittens, something you only
children and my disfunctional sibling relationship don't have." T: "/I/
have five sibs!" E:"Your family was an anarchists convention, not the kind
of thing to emulate for a future Felna." :)
More dreams. And Alliusiz is having them too... and bumming around on
Ish-Tako, not yet having talked to Erma. Itzak meets a Lt. Taho, and they
have a little discussion over what's happened, and what hasn't. And Itzak
discovers that the EDF conspirators can alter the basic, core net and it's
data. The net is now no longer inviolate. Shatoo is informed, and decides
to break house arrest, and run away. Toki is now going to be flying, and
Erma on the ground, due to her pregnancy. Afon and Erma are living
together
(and Erma's been hitting him in her sleep). Itzak tells his former crew
about the net situation, and leaves to take his new command. More dreams.
Which initiate labor, prematurely. The net decides that it's alliusiz's
fault, and makes contact with him, telling him to go away. The child is
born, Rojigo. The Felnas on Dornthant are informed, and Tavas gets Tasak
under his thumb.
Sadly, all my issues after V2N3 (all but 2 of the entire Albedo series!)
are on loan... but this is probably a good start, hm.

what do you program for? I'm working on a mac game that borrows some of
the space combat, and things from Albedo. Not that it'll be out for a long
time, at the current rate. Its not a network game though, not really...
more plot based.
in other news, has anyone seen the beatrix farmer book yet? I've been
waiting and waiting and waiting for a copy through my local shop. I'm
about ready to give up on it, and get it straight from Mu.

Hm. Well, it COULD be a good idea in one regard, in that if he
put up an early issue (Say, V1N1) in complete form, he could
increase his readership. I know a lot of people who think
Albedo is just another Furry story, but I disagree--it's MUCH MUCH
better! Totally different class. But they don't believe me until I let
them read the whole set.
After that, everything else could be text-based, so there wouldn't be
anything to steal. Maybe a synopsis like the great one you posted.
Other things, like where to order. Prices. Maybe a couple words from
Steve. I dunno. I only met him once at San Diego ComicCon, so I
can't really guess how he'd like this all. *shrug*

Aw, rats. I'm a PC grunt, too bad. Well, the one I'm working on now
(working on meaning it's not done, never mind that I haven't touched
it in about a year) is a game based off of the now-defunct FASA's
Starship Tactical Combat Simulator. I'm fixing some of the errors they
made, and making more realistic hardware capabilities, based off of
other Trek sources. But, as I said, it's kinda on the back burner,
when I started it, it was gonna be DOS-based C, but then I discovered
Visual Basic (Visual C is too messy for me), so I'm gonna start over.
