TROY, N.C. —
A Troy man has been arrested and charged after communicating threats
towards the Jewish community through email, according to U.S. Attorney for
the Middle District of North Carolina Sandra J. Hairston.

Investigators said on Oct. 11, Jeffrey Hobgood sent an email to an address
associated with a Jewish organization that said, "I am going to take out
every one of you." Two days later, after being contacted by law
enforcement, Hobgood sent another equally threatening email, according to
authorities.

According to court documents from June 2022, Hobgood also sent multiple
threatening emails to a family member. Hobgood has been charged with a
violation of Title 18 of the United States Code, transmitting in
interstate commerce a communication containing a threat to injure the
person of another.
