WEDNESDAY, DECEMBER 27, 2000

8am: Apprentice Training Workshop begins. Taught by professional falconer
Stuart Rossell. This eight-hour workshop is designed to give you the basics
needed to help you pass your falconry exam and know what equipment is needed
to properly care for a raptor.

7pm to 8pm: Frank Bond, NAFA General Counsel, will bring us up to date on
all of the current issues that may affect our sport in the future. Don't
miss this exciting speaker!

8pm to 9pm: Ducks Unlimited's Dan Connelly, formerly with the California
Department of Fish and Game, will bring us up to date on the current status
of one of our favorite quarries.

9pm: Registration for Thursday's Ballooning Contest closes.

THURSDAY, DECEMBER 28, 2000

7am to 10 am: First Annual Ballooning Contest. Come watch master falconers
fly their birds to 2000 feet for cash prizes awarded to the top three
performers. Limited to fifteen contestants.

1pm to 3pm: Lure machine contest. Watch the austringers go head-to-head
flying their birds at a faster-than-life rabbit, with a chance to win some
respect and cool cash in this first-ever competition. Awards to the top
three places.

7pm to 8pm: Rebecca O’Connor, a former CHC Apprentice of the Year working
with professional bird trainer Steve Martin in Australia, will present a
slideshow of the hawks and falcons "down under."

8pm to 9pm: Dan McCarron will be sharing his adventures with the world of
the golden eagle. This promises to be a very special look at what it is like
to actually fly one of these magnificent monarchs of the air. His slide show
will include husbandry methods, equipment used, and game hawking!

FRIDAY, DECEMBER 29, 2000

11am to 1pm: Hoodmaking Workshop. Make your first hood with Bob Helsom. In
this hands-on class you will actually be able to buy the materials and
construct a hood with a master hoodmaker right at your side, or repair the
braces on an existing hood (ALWAYS A FAVORITE).

1pm to 5pm: CHC Board of Directors meeting. All CHC members are encouraged
to attend and see what's going on with the Club.

2pm: Marshall Telemetry's "Foxhunt." This new tradition has proven to be a
favorite for all. Come watch falconers match their skills in using
telemetry. Teams of two will compete against other teams for top honors by
being the first to find all of the carefully hidden transmitters and beating
the other teams back to the start - and the winning team receives $250.00!

7pm to 8pm: Renowned wildlife photographer Moose Peterson will present a
slideshow on his adventures in photographing wildlife from around the world
(his photos are truly works of art!). We are honored to have this talented
artist with us.

8pm to 9pm: Morley Nelson, world famous falconer and filmmaker, will share
with us his exciting history of working with all different types of hawks,
eagles, owls and falcons in the making of movies. Don't miss the chance to
hear this legendary falconer share his experiences.

SATURDAY, DECEMBER 30, 2000

8am to 11am: The world famous CHC Sky Trials. Watch and enjoy high-flying
and hard-hitting falcons perform for prizes in this crowd-pleaser. Maps will
be made available in the weathering yard the morning of the event.

6pm: Banquet begins with a special presentation by Dale Guthormsen showing
slides from the first CHC Field Meet thirty years ago. Were you there?

7pm-8pm: Ken Franklin will astound us with his studies on the speed of
stooping falcons. Ken has been free-falling with peregrines and other
falcons to determine how fast these birds really go in a stoop. Join us for
this fascinating film and slideshow presentation.
