Let me start in with my little piece of the Faire, before everyone else
jumps in! ;]

1st off, Lara hosted a WONDERFUL otter lunch (No, we didn't eat otter!)
at her pavillion, Where I finally met a whole SLEW of Weazels! But
perhaps I should be cronilogical about this...

I get off work at 4pm (ish); race home; pick up Mary Kay; We're on the
road at 5:30 from Chico. One gas stop later, and several hundred miles
of I-5/41/101/154 we found the site.

The next morning we found ourselves blocked in by several people (well,
you're never REALLY blocked in with a 4X4!), and several hundred other
cars appeared. We saddled up in our gear and headed into Faire.

First we tracked down Lara, my patron saint! Lara's booth looked GREAT!
I wish more people took the care to make everything LOOK as authentic as
Lara does. ;] Intro'ed Mary Kay, to which Lara gave a big hug like she
was part of the family (You're so good, Lara!)

Lara sent me over to Elf's digs, where I delivered cloth for her booth,
and met THE Elf. No sleep, and she was STILL way kewl. ;] This is
where the day STARTS to blurr, since I met Kalani (again), and shared a
bit 'o brew; was treated to some lovely mead by Elf (Eddval's mead?);
and a sip of some extrordinary stuff by Tim the Knotmaster. Tim was
GREAT fun to hang out with for a while; his kids delightful (only 3 of
the 7 were present).

OK... during lunch and over the rest of the afternoon I met:
Duckie: ON and off during the day. Saw him in the afternoon having a
VERY difficult time navigating the streets... Kalani? :D

Kathy Heinz: (the water otter!): Feeling a bit better?
Carl Heinz: taking pictures all over the place!
Jimmy O'Sionnaigh: NOT in his yellows, but still 'wearing a smile' ;p
Kalani: Sober! At least that morning he was! :]
Melis (Kiltgrl), the keeds & mom: Met her and just one kidlet... a
Sweety! (& YES, I mean BOTH!)
the Bonkity Bonk Bonk... Bonk (Sa) THE MAN!
Oon and Shay: 'Backrubs R Us' :D
Dr. Matt
Tim Rightbender, Knotte Master (& 3 kidlets!)
Andara Bledin, Unicorn Keeper: And new REN GEEK! Huzzah!
Cathe & Pax: Surprise and well met! Enjoyed Pax dressing down a young
drunken Englishman who was well deserving of it!
Vlad the drinkmaster!: Not an Otter; but should be given honorary
status!
Cyberkinder!: Well Met!

and DID NOT get to meet:
Moira Shaw (Brassy Lassy)
Kelly (brssangel) ...Where were you guys?!
Lillybelle Sweetbottom (Lolita)
Kitishane (Virijbuit (sp?) Shipping Co.)
Wylie Withers
Master Maritzer (famous for his testasticles)

Ended the evening with some old 'Drench-a-Wench' friends, then dinner &
partying with Lara & Co. (Bill & Debra, otterwise known as William of
Clairmont and Mistress Bearlymuven) at her pavillion; played music
(guitar, and my new ashiko drum) and eventually found our way back to
the 'camp-mobile'.

Had to leave about 10 the next morning, so I could be home to get my
daughter Sunday evening. It was a LONG drive to do in a 2 day weekend!
I'll definately make it a 3-day next time!

Jimmy, thank you for the escort around the fest. I appreciate your

I just had so much fun meeting the people whose postings in AFR I have

Went to the doctor. No harm done in going to SB. No, I was not germy

Yeah -- what everybody said... nice meeting the few who I hadn't met before --
sorry gang that I wasn't there on Saturday. Oh well. Sunday was nice though --
good weather, relaxed atmosphere, had a great time strolling about with the
sweetuns. Thank you Elf for the hospitality, and I'm sorry your placement
there sucked wind. That really was the anal sphyncter of the fairesite. Almost
literally. But anyway, let's get some banner ads up on the Sound & Fury site,
and several of you others out there might wanna add a banner to your sites (if
you get many hits, I suppose) to help the gal out.... Just a thought.

And thanks to the kind folk who pre-ordered the "Testaclese and the Sack of
Rome" video (available starting this week!). The response there and on the web
has been surprising! So thanks for your support. (It makes a lovely Xmas

ahem. sorry. just trying to fund trips to other faires....

Agree. Also met other friends from RPFS.

Strongly recommend this event.

The temperature wasn't conducive to us being in costume. Judy's talking about cotton
outfits for warm weather gear. Most of our original cotton stuff has found its way into
the hands of various relatives.

A good selection of vendors, and an altogether pleasant site. Too bad it's a 2-1/2 drive.
Otherwise, it'd been nice to go both days. A motel in Solvang or Santa Barbara next year
is a definite possibility.

Ye forgot a few of the other occurrences - folks, Jas played a bit o'
music out in front of Lara's booth area, and my son Zach and daughter
Andrea both began joining in on bones - suddenly there were about 6
bones players around! ;-D Dunno, in my house rhythm happens.. (all
three of my boys play drums!)

And I was delighted and slightly surprised that a spur of the moment
gig turned out beautifully:
I was near Lara's booth and the Queen's Progress was passing by for
the second time (that I had seen, anyway - coulda been more). They
were moving more slowly than they had been, and were stopping and
admiring many of the booths and the crafts each held. I did doff my
hat, and held up a knotted rose in my hand, white center and red edge,
green stem (a proper Tudor rose, for those with heraldic
backgrounds), and said not a word.
And the Queen did stop, and accept my rose. (Even held it up to her
nose for a moment - mayhaps I should get some rose scent!)
Lara did take a few flemish paintings of the occasion (thanks, Lara!).
Kinda made my day (again! several good points in this trip!),
especially as it was completely and utterly unplanned!

On another note, I am the very proud owner of a beautiful and unique
ElvenGlass bottle, which is presently in a visible but protected spot
where I can admire it! Now I need to go get some suitably
distinguished single malt to put in it....

And as a side note: Kathy, I don't know about Hanford - I really
don't have any info on that one. Whether I make it or not, I can
certainly share what I've learned from CiderMeister Vlad!

Jaysus! It's saffron not yellow! And I showed up in it... Just changed that's
all!

Anyhoo:
Packed all my stuff and arrived at 11ish at the site. I had driven up in
shorts and a t-shirt. (Sorry I wasn't going drive 2 hours without pants!)
Changed in the parking lot (Great thing about my irish garb: It is essentially
two major pieces: le/ine and ionar (no breeches to mess with!) and a le/ine
makes it's own changing tent!)

Had a great time! It was wonderful to meet everyone!

A great number of rengeeks were there. Friends from Adria. And some of the
Strapwellians were there too! (albeit most were doing Army of O'Neill stuff).

Bought a new le/ine and bonnet. (My saffron one is wearing thin and I needed a
bonnet that looked slightly more *period!*)

Oggled elf's bottles. (I'd've bought one if I hadn't already needed new garb
:-(

Walked a bit with Mistress Kat, Brett & Carrie (no-geeks, but old friends),
Some of the O'Neill's, Kalani and Mike and KiltGrl :-)

We also had a wake and funeral procession for a banger!

I'm looking forward to next year at this faire. It's a great combination of
the best of the big and smaller faires!

Hi, I am Vladimir, the guild master of the Four Winds Gypsy Troupe
(Almightyguildmastergodsir, it just sounds like asshole) aka Daedelus.

I would also like to clarify the origin of the cranberry cider. It was given
to me by the man who taught me how to brew. (the mistakes are mine) He is a
true Brewing god and I am trying to get him to come to Vegas and maybe bring
some brew. If you like "gatorhol" wait until you try "Primal Srceam" a
chocolate raspberry imperial stout, which has won awards all over the country.
That should be ready next year. Unfortunately I am almost out of cranberry
cider so I may have to ration it, find me early when it is gone it is gone...
until next year :( It takes a few months to brew.

If you would like to brew your own then let me know and I will post it to the
site.

Interesting note: I have been using the interior of the gas oven at
home as a brewing area, because the pilot light keeps the space
noticeably warm at all times. I suspect that this has caused a number
of extremely quick brewing cycles for the cider that I have been
brewing, cutting the necessary time down quite a bit. (About 3 weeks
total start to drinkable - it does continue to improve with some
aging, however!)
