He played a character called "Lifeguard" in a TV series whose name escapes me
but whose hero was played by Ken Wahl. Try looking up "Highlander - The
Series" on the Net and you'll find a small crop of fan sites with bios of some
of the actors.

Charmaine, AKA Rose Hawthorne

Please change "nospam" to "net" in e-mail address to reply.

I think the show was "Wiseguys" or something like that.

Missing Highlander more and more.

Series: "Wise Guy"

Ken Wahl was a deep undercover agent for the feds (DoJ?) and Joe Dawson was
his contact. He stayed in a wheelchair for most of the show surrounded by
computer monitors.

For those of you missing you fix...FOX (in LA) is going to start
showing a spin-off of Highlander - Highlander: The Raven. It seems to
star the cat burglar immortal from the regular series...Saw an ad for it
tonight...

Yep, Amanda is the new spin off. I think it will be interesting to see how it
goes; burglary all the time or some occassional storylines like the Series.

It was on here this morning. It wasn't bad but they had these weird slow
motion shots that I did not like. I also wish she would go back to being a
brunette.

As well as doing wise-guy series with Ken Wahl, here's more info on Jim
Byrnes.

Known and admired by
millions of viewers for his role
on the CBS series "Wiseguy,"
Byrnes is a gifted actor and an
inspiring individual. He lost
both legs in an automobile
accident February 26, 1972.
Then, fifteen years later to the
day, he landed his p ivotal
"Wiseguy" role as Dan "Uncle
Mike" Burroughs, an
Organized Crime Bureau
"lifeguard". He calls the
coincidence "synchronicity."

Byrnes grew up in St. Louis,
the middle child of a middle
class family. He learned to play
blues guitar at age thirteen and
continues to play today. His
CD, "That River," won a 1996
Juno Award (the Canadian
equivalent to a Grammy) for
best album. An ec lectic
individual, he studied for the
priesthood and was even a
professional shepherd at one
point. However, it was acting
that won out as his life's
profession. Besides having
been musically inclined as a
youth, he also performed
Shakespeare in the Par k in St.
Louis when he was fifteen.
Byrnes studied acting at
Boston University and St.
Louis University.

Besides "Wiseguy," Byrnes has
appeared in numerous
television series and motion
pictures, including: "The
Commish," "The Hat Squad,"
"Harmony Cats," "Dirty
Works," "Lightening Force,"
"Neon Rider," "Omen 4," "In
the Best Interest of the Child,"
"Danger B ay" and "The
Hitchhiker."

Byrnes received a British
Columbia Film and Television
award (Leo) for Best
Supporting Actor for his work
as Joe Dawson as well as a Leo
for the music video for "That
River."

taken from http://www.rysher.com/highlander/jimfr.html which is the web
page for the series (official). Sorry if the formatting got messed up on
this,... I did a cut and paste under netscape, so it may appear wrong on
some newsreaders.

Probably already been answered, but Ken Wahl starred in a very good show
called "Wiseguy". In that show was a wheelchair-bound character Vinnie
(Wahl's character) called Uncle Mikey. That actor is in "Highlander"
(possibly the one being referred to, don't watch "Highlander" and don't
remember 'Lifeguard' from "Wiseguy").

Unfortunately, "Wiseguy" left the air shortly after Wahl left the program
because they wanted to change it from an ensemble style format to just about
his character. They replaced him, but the show wasn't as good any more.
