What's this about a Monty Python reunion special!? OMG, Python is about the
closest I come to religion. Unfortunately, I am HBO-challenged.

If anyone did tape it, I will compensate with copious quantities of cash for a
copy...

About the Monty Python HBO appearance.

Its old, for starters.

Last year, the pythons were honored by the Aspen Comedy Festival that takes
place in the early winter each year in Colorado. HBO networks runs a number
of specials and excerpts about it during and after its taken place, both on
HBO, and on Comedy Central. Comedy central usually has the standard
standups, HBO will broadcast events of the "big" stars (past ones included
George Carlin, Sinbad, and this year, the Pythons).

The 5 Pythons held their first public appearance together since Chapman's
funeral, talking with Robert Klein about the history of the
team/show/movies, their favourite characters they've played, influences,
etc. They also dropped hints about doing another tour or movie, but the
pythonline website (which once had a survey about a tour, wondering who
would go and what sketches they'd like to see, etc.) isn't saying anything
about it right now.

It was originally broadcast in November. Reruns have taken place about once
a month or so, usually on HBO-Signature (formerly HBO-3) for those with
multicast services. As an aside, it _wasn't_ in the tvguide listings. The
tv guide (at least mine) was saying that time slot was to have been George
Carlin's latest HBO special.

Isn't that the one where they sit around and talk like on a talk show and
"Chapman's ashes" are on the table? Then they accidentally spill his ashes and
have to clean them up? That was hilarious! No I haven't seen it. Just
kidding. I don't have cable anymore but I caught that one last year.

I have their reunion special from several years ago. It was the special Graham
Chapman died just prior to it's completion. There is his last ever acting
piece with the rest of the cast. There is a scene where Steve Martin
(narrator) says something like "the cast of Monty Python could be
anywhere...even behind this door" he proceeds to open it and there are all the
members. They are standing around Graham to kind of hide the fact he was in a
wheelchair. Steve Martin continues talking without looking in the closet
where the cast is and then shuts the door on them. Is funny but sad at the
same time. Now I'll have to dig that special up.

I'd agree. Carlin has, in my eyes anyway, gone from being bitterly funny
to just plain bitter. Still love his stuff from many, many years ago....

I remember that. I think he actually said "Where are they now? In
this closet . . ." He opened it up and then said "Sad, isn't it?" And
then shut the door. During the credits you could hear Phalin's muffled
voice going "Um, Steve? Um, let us out. . . Big reunion . . . Hello?"

I remember rewinding it and taking a good look at Graham, it made me
want to cry. But it was a lot of funny bits in that one . . . wasn't it
the one called "Parrot Scetch Not Included"?

I'm pretty sure that special was called "Parrot Scetch Not Included",
because I remember being angry at the end when I discovered that the
Parrot Scetch was REALLY not included. At that point in time I had
performed the the Parrot Scetch and *heard* it on tapes and CDs, but
never actually *seen* it. I'd thought that the title was a joke,
because it IS one of their most popular bits besides mebbe "Crunchy
Frog" and "Nobody Expects blah blah blah."

Robynne: I'd like to be a "cunning linguist" . . . prey brother, what
means "linguist"? I know "cunning".

"toung"...

I went to New Orleans for Halloween in 1997. Took a Haunted History tour
called the Vampire Tour of the French Quarter. (AWSOME! Just the right dash
of creepy...befitting the holiday) ANYWAYS! The tourguide (CHaz) pointed out
a building and was telling the story when he said "It was at about the time of
the French Revolution..." Before I could stop I blurted out "Comfy chair!?!"
Which prompted about 6 others beginning to quote the Spanish Inquisition
sketch. It was tooooo funny!

Hello Audrey...

That part of the tour is always best when there are Monty Python fans like
yourself around! lol. I can't say the "Spanish Inquisition" w/o quoting
something from it. It's always a good laugh! On a side note, I left that
other company a little over a year ago, and started my own. When you get a
