...what are the true (as personally experienced, preferably)
"side effects" of physical castration?
i.o.w; how does it feel afterward; what does it do to your
mood, metabolism? is sex drive really affected that much?
i have heard about increased post operation urge, and also
the opposite. i am sure the effects are realized more or
less on a case by case basis, as anything else is, but would
like to learn more. i cannot seem to find any resources for
this information on the net, other than this news group.

what should i look for in a doctor? would i need hormone
replacement to build/maintain appropriate muscle mass? how
should i go about storing semen for possible (however
unlikely) artificial insemination? i'm sure, if needed, i
could access and maintain cryonics equipment myself (which
seems the wisest (and most "low-key") decision. could also
be handy as postmortem "grey matter" storage.

i am an amateur cross-country cyclist, in my mid twenties.
i am carefully considering removal of my testes and most of
the scrotum for contraceptive, as well as
cosmetic/physical/psychological comfort purposes. i know
it's not a cure-all, looking for one is ludicrous; i think
it would help me be more comfortable in this existence. the
only drawback i can see is the probable, temporary,
inability to ride while the surgery is healing.

any positive outlooks or information would be greatly
appreciated.

thanks,
ipso

Many report loss of energy, weight gain, and a gradual reduction in sex drive.
But it varies from person to person. I had mine done 3 months ago, so here is
my own experience so far. Keep in mind that this is the experience of a
transgendered person.

My own sex drive fell in just days. I have not masturbated once since the
operation. I believe mine dropped rapidly because my mind was origionally
'wired' to be asexual and really wanted to be rid of the male libido. Before
castration, mine was probably no worse than normal (for a male) but I wanted it
all gone.

I do not feel less energetic. I do feel a lot calmer and just a lot more
relaxed. Testosterome made me irritable and angry all the time. So far the
benefits of remiving it from my system have offset any loss of energy so that I
don't feel less energetic.

Hot flushes. Mine have been pretty mild, such that nobody has noticed. The
only thing I have done about them is set my air conditioner at 77 this year
instead of 80 as before. I am not on testosterome replacement and do not want
it.

I take it you are not transgendered, so I will say that without testosterome
replacement you would lose some body hair and fat would move to your upper
chest and hips. Your adrenal glands will produce only a small amount of
testosterome, and also estrogen, so I would think the 2 would cancel each other
out and leave your body without the influence of either hormone.

My conclusion: It's not just birth control, it is *life control*.

Good luck.

This link has information, procedures and costs of sperm storage. Go to
the website, scroll down to "Sperm storage prior to hormones". Transexual
information is a more available source of information than eunuch
information in many cases.

My orchiectomy is planned next spring with a urologist in Columbus, Ohio.
He charges $1000 but a TS friend of mine had it done at a clinic in
Michigan for $800. Can not give you information on after effects because I
will be substituting female hormones for the missing testosterone when I
have it done. I can say that 6 months of depo-provera left me feeling
better.

You will lose muscle mass and gain fat deposits in places that men are not
suppose to have fat... It will change your ability to ride, and it will change
your sex drive even if you use hormone replacement

Good night! It's him again. Why can't anybody ask a question or express
themselves here without this guy goading them?

To ipso:

Please think very carefully about being an eunuch before you go through with
it, because after you do it you can never, ever be the same again. I don't
mean to be negative, but I fear this Hetros11 guy is going to cause somebody to
rush into this and then regret it.

i was castrated 2 years ago ipso and it was a few months before i went to my
physician and had him run a testosterone leve on me. He immediately prescribed
the injections and i've been doing 1 every 10 days since~

I initially did have severe hot flashes and night sweats which were extremely
unbearable.

Your right about maintaining the muscle mass and masculinity, it will eliminate
gaining the female traits of breasts, and elimination of body hair.

It immediately increased my energy level and smoothed my mood swings out to
normal which i had'nt realized had been effected.

It took about 30 days for the healing process. Not certain if your considering
just castration or castration w/penectomy but either way the healing time is
approximately the same!

When i was castrated i left the scrotum on for a little while but then removed
it as determined it wud be very unsightly after viewing some that had kept
theirs on BME (personal opinion).

The saving of the semen is not something i'm sure about. Surely someone on
here will have that answer for you.

If you have other questions feel free to post or e mail directly at
"JimMi...@aol.com" (the o in nullo is a zero).

Wishing you the best. I only wish i could have followed my desire at your age.
Would have enjoyed many more years as I had always wished to be as a "nullo'd
eunuch"

sincerely,

nullo'd eunuch "jim"

my post to this newsgroup has provided me with access to a good deal of
information. in spite of all this information, i have another question (brought
about by a theory), which i will type below...

first off, i would like to thank those who have contributed, as well as (in
advance) those who may contribute to my gathering of information in the future.
all i am really looking for at this time is information. <smirk> i'm not about to
run out and buy a clamp (or be otherwise castrated) just yet.

the information i acquire may help me finalize my decision to become a neuter. let
me say that castration is (for me) in no way a short term goal. it's something
i've heard about, thought about, and believe may benefit me personally. right
now, i'm kind of 'feeling things out'; reading the experiences of others ought to
give me some idea of what castration will be like for me, which is what i think i
need.

i suppose you could say that i'm fantasizing at this point, unsure how to proceed.
i find it slightly ironic to say that losing my testes is something that will make
me feel whole. my thinking unadulterated by the restraints which my sexual mind
creates. i think it could be a very positive thing for me.

now the question:
with regard to what seems to be (for lack of a better term) testosterone
'withdrawal' (it's my idea that this is what may be causing some of the 'side
effects' i've heard mentioned), has anyone tried replacing testosterone fully for a
short period, then weaning from it gradually? i'd be very interested to hear your
results if you have (or opinions of the idea, in any case).

again, thank you all.
