Today we celebrate Wil Wheaton's birthday. Yes, he's 33 which
makes the year 1972. Let's see, that's the beginning of the 70s,
one of the weirdest decades of all time: disco, earth shoes, wide
bell bottoms, polyester leisure suits, Leo Sayer, The Starland
Vocal Band, the oil crisis with gas lines, hostages in Iran,
Lavern & Shirley, gold neck chains, Donny & Marie, Nixon, The
Waltons, Welcome Back Kotter et al. I don't know if anybody is
paying attention, but I think we can blame this abominable decade on
the Weasel.
Star Trek: The Motion Picture came out in '79, the end of the
Weasel Decade. This began a whole string of terrible Star Trek
sequels on film and T.V. Perhaps the worst was Star Trek: The Next
Generation" which ran from 1987-1994. Seven years! The Weasel
came on in '92 as cadet third class Wesley Crusher.
