Correct me if I am wrong, but the impact fuze on anti-ship missiles are intended to explode once the warhead is confined within the ship's hull for maximum effect.
It seems landing craft have high walls and their interior has no confinement, meaning an ASM that strikes it and explodes would have the explosion unconfined on one side and therefore be less effective.
Also, landing craft have a specific mission and are not intended to be seaworthy after they beach and would be part of an armada of other landing craft and surface ships.
Can anyone comment if there are any unclassified studies or reports looking into this?
