This also works using concentrated hydrochloric acid and aluminum foil.

OK, I've heard of this one before. What I don't understand is how it works.
Anyone care to explain the chemistry of what's going on here? Is is just
a gas generation reaction (which bursts the bottle), or is there
combustion (or even detonation)?
