> Out of interest: Father's Day? Mother's Day? Mothers' Day? Fathers'
> Day?
Mothering Sunday was a Church of England observation for a
century or more. (I do not know whether it survives here or not.)
The US greetings card industry appears to have taken it up
early in the 20th century, and simplified it by removing the
church connection and renaming it Mother's Day: and 20 or 30
years later created Father's Day to match it (and increase
opportunities for sales.)
