Hi,

I read the following return policy. I am just curious about what kind of delivery is for "curb side"? It is one waiting at the street side for the delivery car to arrive?

Thanks,

................
How to Return: ...

If you request an item be picked up for return, the item must be packaged and available for pick up in the same manner as it was delivered.
If your order was delivered "curb side", it will need to be available for curb side pick up. If the item arrived to you in a box, it will need to be in a box at the time of pick up.

American vendors usually mean by "curb side" delivery to your personal
address. I have here a WiFi gadget with enclosed instructions for return
via commercial courier "curb side." Details explain that this means I must
pack the shipment and then telephone the courier company, which will then
send a truck to collect the package from my home address.

In this country mail was traditionally delivered curb side i.e. to each
individual house: but for new developments (both groups of individual
houses and high-rise apartments) the Post Office now delivers mail
only to group boxes, at street corners or in the lobbies of apartment
buildings. Residents here do not get curb side delivery of mail.

It means that the people making the pick-up will not enter your
building to pick up the item. You must bring the item to the street,
or curb.

That's common in furniture sales contracts. The store may be willing
to deliver the item to the address, or pick it up from that address,
but not willing to move the item up or down stairs.

In the US, especially in large cities, "curb side" means more than
just "to the personal address". It means the delivery will be
unloaded from the truck and placed on the sidewalk. It is up to the
person receiving the delivery to move the item from the sidewalk into
his residence.

The store, and the delivery service, do not want to be responsible to
move an item up several flights of stairs, in an elevator too small
for the item, or through twisting halls too narrow for the item.

"Curb side pick-up" is the same, but opposite. It's up to the person
returning the item to get the item to the sidewalk so the delivery
service can pick it up from there.

Something similar applies in the UK, except that here we spell it
"kerbside".

For example:
http://www.rolawndirect.co.uk/faqs-8.html

What does kerbside mean?

Kerbside delivery means that the delivery will be placed as close to
your property as deemed safe by the driver.

http://www.pavingcentreonlineltd.co.uk/index.php?show_aux_page=2

....
All prices include standard kerbside delivery (this means on the
road next to the kerb or the bottom of a driveway unless otherwise
agreed)
