What does "stick" mean?

What does "stick" mean in these two cases:

1. Sorry to hear you're not well. Two sticks for you. A smile and a hug.
2. Thanks for the stick. Your suggestion worked perfectly.

I think this is new slang and I haven't yet figured out how "stick" can
mean "help" or "assistance". Any explainations out there?
