Dear all,
There is one sentence in Lady GaGa's lyrics. I would like to know
the meaning of "starstruck". Thanks a lot!

"...I'm so starstruck Baby could you blow my heart up? "

I agree with the others about the meaning of the word. It is one of a
number of compounds ending in "-struck", meaning "strongly affected
by" whatever the first element of the compound is. It was probably
coined by analogy with "sunstruck" (strongly lit or affected by the
sun), and particularly with "moonstruck" (driven a little crazy,
especially by love) .

Yes. The original meaning given in the OED is of being affected by the
stars. The use in which the "star" is a person came later:

starstruck adj.
(a) enchanted, spellbound, bewitched; affected or
directed by the stars (cf. MOONSTRUCK adj.);
(b) fascinated by famous people, especially those connected with the
entertainment industry; overwhelmed or greatly impressed by the
presence of a celebrity.

These appear to be sense (a):

1820 'B. CORNWALL' Marcian Colonna 179 In thy smiling presence, I
Kneel in star-struck idolatry, And turn me to thine eye (the moon)
Fretting that it must change so soon.

1862 R. CRESSWELL tr. Aristotle Hist. Animals VIII. xx. 219 The
glanis, from its swimming near the surface, appears to be
star-struck by the dog-star.

1938 Times 22 Apr. 12/2 There is a Lorenzo by Mr. Alec Guinness
who..lifts the final scene to an unspectacular, meditative,
star-struck beauty that takes the breath away.

This appears to be sense (b):

1970 R. ALLEN Skinhead xv. 127 His was a senseless world of violence
for the sake of violence;..his the star-struck era of pop and pot
and the belief that might is right even if might has to play games
and call itself right.

In not sure about this one. I think it is possible sense (a):

1991 U.S. News & World Rep. 27 May 19/2 Dallasites endured this
five-week assassination re-examination with star-struck curiosity
and good-natured composure.

Definitely sense (b):

2001 R. HILL Dialogues of Dead (2002) xv. 163 Wield knew that if
Ellie had a weakness, it was a tendency to be star-struck by fully
paid-up luvvies.
